Have you got any old film SLR gear?

If so look at the same brand as the lenses you've got ;)

If starting from scratch - maybe S/H Nikon D70 and a few lenses for that money...

Had an eos 650 but flogged it couple of years ago.

Edit: Just checked me ebay feedback and it was a Minolta AF7000 what I flogged the EOS was ages ago??

My nipper is into photography and he nabbed my old Nikon D70 and he,
along with myself, have taken fantastic photographs with it,Nikons are built like brick **** houses
IMO.
For your money I would hope to get the D80 the lenses are all interchangeable with the bigger DSLRs, if you wanted to trade up later on flog the body or keep it for spare, and keep all the lenses.
When buying ask the seller to tell you the amount of photo's the camera has taken, you access this through the menu, its like a mileometer and logs the shutter operations, gives you an idea of what sort of use it's had.

Linky??? also how old as I want to spend £350 on a 6/7 year old camera when I can buy a brand new one for £400

anyone used London Camera Exchange As they have some good deals on D70 as well as lots of other Makes and models. And they have a branch in Winchester (15minutes away)

go for it pikey, they do work well, try and use it on manual exposure - but on all auto they are good. nikon have the advantage of every lens ever made will fit as the bayonet fitting is still the same ( loss of auto focus and auto exposure with early lens's - but there is a focus indicator). The battery on the d70 is a li-on and lasts very well (unlike my D1h's that have ni-cads and need regular changing). Not a lot goes wrong with Nikon's as my then local camera shop says. One of my D1h's has now taken 500,000 images and has never given a days trouble

Will pop over in new year then. I've had Canon EOS & Minolta 7000Af 35mm camera's so m used to AF SLR cameras. Just never has a DSLR

one tip for you to do with the nikon, take a correctly exposed shot - print it, then adjust the monitor brightness to be the same as the taken shot = very easy to take manual exposure shots then, also be aware that the light levels are set for California so always use the "cloudy" setting in UK as the colour is very close then. Think you can set the colour to adobe rgb on the D70, if so download an epson printer driver as that allows you to change your laptop monitor to adobe colour = shots from camera are always the same looked at or printed then.

Or just get a mobile phone with a decent camera, they're bloody fantastic these days (8mp) and more than good enough for what I want ;):)

Got a blackberry camera's fine for close up still shots. Anything else and, then like the rest of the fone it's ****e

Got a cannon 400D great camera. Why not look at a refurb? That's wher mines from, it's as new, would never tell it was a refurb.

Problem is once you get the cam then you want a tripod, or gorilla pod, them lenses ( ranging from £300 to £3000!) filters, editing software, flash, remote shutter control etc.

Seen a few 40 & 400's for sale. Already got a good tripod. I've never paid for Software in me life .. hoping to get a flash thrown in with the camera..

I bought my Nikon D80 body with 4500 shutter activations (which in camera terms is a Diesel engine that's done about 20000 miles) on Ebay for £330.

It has been a real tiptop piece of kit.

Although I did spend £520 on an 18mm to 250mm lens. That was painful but now a very versatile setup.

I've got a canon 450D body I'm selling with three batteries .wanted about £250 for it. It's in mint condition, just upgraded to the 7 D

I'm watching a D70 with 3700 shutter clicks also got

D70 body with body cap
Nikkor AF 18-70mm zoom with neutral filter to protect the lens, a lens cap and lens hood
Nikkor AF 70-300mm zoom with neutral filter to protect the lens, a lens cap and lens hood.
Two rechargeable EN-EL3 batteries
Battery charger
One emergency standard battery pack
Rear screen protector
Nikon Capture Software
