Hey,

So despite the fact my defender currently looks like a UN peacekeeper vehicle I plan to change that over time.

I absolutely love the look of the camel trophy 110.

Is there a spec list or anything anywhere of what is on them that I can try and aim for?

Also does anyone have one or a lookalike with pics

I meant more detailed pics
There are plenty of pics but they are all the same and don't cover the finer detail.

Also I like to see other peoples cars :)

Personal opinion .. don't do it.

Camel Trophy vehicles are pretty rare and everyone who decides to tart theirs up to make it look like one devalues them, in my opinion, for those lucky enough to own a real one. If you want 'the look', paint it similarly with a few added bits and bobs, but I'd suggest not trying to make it an exact replica. Do that and you run the risk of people always taking you to task for trying too much to look like one. Anyone who 'knows' them also knows their registrations are mostly known so you will be spotted, especially if you ever try to capitalise and sell it on.

Had a set of decals made up for a 90 years ago only it said Caramel Toffee instead, it was supposed to be an amusing pun but such was the strength of Camel's brand image virtually nobody actually noticed..!

Heheheh, yeah, make it good, but obviously not original.

I like that idea though, Caramel trophy, perhaps we could organise something suitably daft for LZ3? I'll get me thinking cap on .. it'll only take a month or two to think ..

Thanks for the vid

Maybe if I leave it white then and don't put camel decals on it but do everything else it will be ok :D

You can do what you want really, but in my opinion just don't make it an exact replica and try to pass it off as a Camel vehicle. Paint it orange, stick a roofrack on and big old lights, but I wouldn't put the decals on, or do similar as above, and subtly (or not) change them so they look Camel style but obviously not proper Camel .. :)

Landrovers are odd things and there are some rivet counters who if they see someone 'impersonating' Camel vehicles will rip them to pieces ... 'specially if you go to shows or other Landrover group meetings.

I'm not a big fan of Camel "replicas".

But on the contrary, I love Camel inspired vehicles. I'm trying to do that to my 300tdi 90.
I think the basics are:
- Brownchurch or similar rack
- Safety Devices L142 cage
- Mantec steering guard
- Classic looking winch bumper and bull bar
- steel wheels

Leave the colour different than the sandglow yellow and you'll have sort of a Camel Trophy "homage" without faking it or having to stick to the scrip too tightly.
Or so I think
