I'm going to be having a look at a mates Disco TDi 300 auto tomorrow (1997) because it has a lighting fault.

No rear side lights, no front side lights, no dashboard lights.

Brake lights work, reverse lights work, headlights main and dip all work.

I checked the engine bay fuses, but that's all up to now.

My plan is to check the cabin fuses, but then I'm not sure where to check.

Any and all ideas welcome.

Cheers
Dave

Check the live feeds they all congregate on a single insulated stud on the O/s bulkhead

Also check feeds to the fusebox.

as well as earths etc.

Thanks for the response Redhand, but I'm not sure what I should be looking for here. I've seen a clump of earths on the drivers side inner wing but I don't remember seeing the stud you are referring to.

Hi,

Mine had the same it was a fuse in the cabin and the light in the glove compartment was shorting out. I took that out and replaced the fuse it was ok.

If not then check the earth's.

If they're Brown they're the Live wires.

If Black they're earths.

Had same fault on mine, was the sidelight fuse as that's what does the dash lights as well as tail lights. I also at the same time replaced the main earth on the rear light clusters as all connections were corroded.

Took the pod out and all bulbs out, cleaned every connection surface and cut the original earth wire and put a new one in with a new hole drilled for best connection.

Hope that helps

hI GUYS JUST A QUICK UPDATE.

The car now has side lights again. The problem was the lighting stork was faulty on the side light function so I've sliced in a new switch and all is well.

The wires concerned off the back of the switch are brown/purple and red.
