HELP! As in a previous post, I'm in the process of talking myself into buying a 110... It now appears to be hanging on one small detail - the size in the back... This will dictate if I can fit a bed etc in it like I want to use it for.

So, any 110 owners out there, if you have a spare minute any time soon I would be greatfull of some dimensions of the rear 'cargo' part. (I have had a search with not great success and would like some 'hands on' first had data...)

Specifically I would like,
the length - from bulkhead/seats to the inside of the back door.
the height, floor to roof.
the widith, side to side and wheel box to wheel box.
the hight of the week boxes.


I am after this from a 'utility' truck i.e. not a pickup version or double cab etc.

What hieght are ye? Ye can fit two blow up single airbeds in the back with a board across the boxes;)

Utility is different from hard top. Hard top is just 1 row of seats, like a van style. Utility is just like a Station wagon but without rearmost seats and windows.

From memory width between wheelboxes of hard top is 91 or 92 cm height of wheelboxes is 20-22cm width is 22-25cm. Rear bulkhead is sloped below the wheelboxes so on top there is about 180cm between it and the rear door but at floor level there is more like 190-195cm. All of this is from memory so not 100% sure.

To stop condensation you can try and stick some sort of insulation inside. Will make it much warmer too. You can get this stuff from B&Q its like bubble wrap that looks like its made of foil. Works for me :)

Not a utility but if you fold down the backs of the seats in a CSW (300Tdi) then you can fit a single mattress in there perfectly - it's also pretty damn comfortable. The only benefit I had was that I've got a gun cabinet fitted between the wheel arches and therefore didn't need to support the middle of the mattress.

I did have a piccy with all the dimensions for the back of a 110 SW but can't for the life of me find it anymore...
 
As peoples photos show over six foot behind the front seats. We just boarded the back out in 18mm ply for our trip to Skye, which doesn't need suport in the middle. That way you can store stuff underneath without restriction.
Take the back seats out and build a frame in the footwell and you even more storage than a van body

I'd like to avoid the roof tent option, cost, extra wind resistance, falling out of it while drunk/not being able to get into it when drunk and so on...

The tent off the back looked good, but as with the roof tent it's extra cost.

I have a single inflatable bed I use in my van now and a fold out camp bed which I'm looking to use either or of them ideally. Which it's sounding like they'll fit just nicely.

Ply-lining is the other thing I have been thinking of (or checker plate, but I think that would be expensive and a bit OTT) or the bubble wrap stuff suggested for some insulation.

So the station wagons, do the rear row of seats fold down flat(ish) or does it depend on the model?

My cunning plan is starting to take shape.... now just need to find a suitable beast and begin playing...
 

10mm Foam Carpet Underlay

Thats what I used in mine to insulate/noise reduction. Spray glue and a knife :) Stuck it everywhere then ply lined the sides what an amazing difference in noise.

The back is near as matter 6 feet long. My plan is 2 bunks, 580mm wide x 1800mm long, they sit on top of the bulkhead and with the seats (from a disco) moved forward (tilt forward seats from a 3 door car would be better) leaves you some space at the rear and 400mm along the middle. Should make life easier than standing on your bed :) I'll find out in 2 weeks as were off to try it out in the alps!!
 
I have a '96 csw I folded the back seats forward and then used an old futon base and some seatbelt material to form the base of a bed which I can put either a double or single mattress on and still be able to put stuff underneath. I'll try and add some pictures asap

Sounds good! Be interested to hear how you get on with it and what if anything you would change.

The not having to stand on the bed is partly why I'm thinking either inflatable or fold up cot... nice and comfy but small enough to keep out the way/not take up too much space when I'm not asleep.

The underlay looks like a good shout! and that spray glue is awesome! carpeted the rear of my van with it, not a good idea to use in confined spaces tho I found :S

Looking good RichyB, any chance of some bigger pics to get a better idea of how that's gone together?
