Hi Guys,

New to the world of Land rovers and i have a Range Rover Vogue 4.6 HSE (p38 i think) - It is a 1997 model and it has developed an annoying battery drain issue and i will list what has been done to eliminate this fault but i am still stuck so looking for following:

1. A good auto electrician or anyone that can recommend one.
2. any wiring diagrams of the wiring circuit on one of these
3. I have had 2 auto electricains take a look at the problem and both have agreed there is a battery drain and the car is not shutting itself off properly, i been told it may be ignition switch or something to do wit hthe relays under the seats not shutting down properly. Any idea of thefuse box that is under the seats on one of these?

Sypmtons:

The car seems to go flat and has a battery drain, once battery is started it works fine until you turn it off and then bang the battery is drained.

Any advice would be really welcomed!

Cheers
Mukul

cheers mate and had a butchers at the search and apologise and see lots mentioned on there but i am a noob and is there a good auto electricain nearby to Suffolk/Cambridgeshire/Essex borders that would be willing to take a look at this problem for me and maybe fix it!

I am willing to pay someone to come down and take a look at this problem if interested as it has been sitting at garage for over 2 months and i am getting a bit cheesed off at the mo so anyone local to Cambridge/Bury St edmunds/Saffron Walden or anyone up to do the job i am happy to re-imburse.

If your gona change the RF receiver DON'T get it from ebay, get it from a reputable dealer, and honestly even if your a numpty it will take no more than 15 mins to change yourself, we will help you out if you get stuck, but you'll be OK DIY ing it trust me I'm a struck off doctor

Its under a shelf at the back of the car, just 2 connectors that you swap over from the old one to the new one

Im in Heathrow, if you pass pop in, you live near to my sister in law, but i dont plan on seeing her though!!1

Cheers buddy so your shout is to go with the RF receiver and just change it and see what happens? I don't mind changing parts as it has been 2 months and getting cheesed off and just want the problem resolved. Or would you suggest we check to see the drain is actually coming from the RF receiver?

Lol soz mate i am a noob in this and will get garage where car is to do the work first.

Any ideas on where to get this part?

haha damn right John i remember one auto electrician goes i don't want to look at this as under the seat it has air level suspension etc.

I am serious about paying someone for there services to fix this issue as it has been 2 months since i had this motor and not been able to drive it and i want to get it sorted.

Cheers

You can take one of the wires out to disable it, I cant remember what one, someone will come along and tell you soon enough Island 4X4 is a good place for parts

part # is YWY500170 just google it you'll get 100s of hits with that

Cheers guys and like i said i am happy to pay for supply and fit if anyone is interested in the job then pm me please.:D

Blue wire (antenna) off sorted mine, but there can be many other reasons for the drain, alternator etc.

Yea but if he pulls the wire and its fine after that at least that way its not cost him anything as yet, and if it is that then £144 rather do that than keep buying parts

Like I said drive down to Heathrow and I will fix it for you, and again DONT get it from ebay

Nothing wrong with the one i showed on egay, same part no. and new, oh yeah and 25 beer tokens cheaper

The thing about ebay its sometimes people swap the old part for the new one and sell it off, so you still have the old part, ts been done many times (people on here will testify to that) me? I would pay the difference for peace of mind knowing I have the right one off a reputable dealer

The one on Island is £141.66 (excl. VAT)
the ebay one is £155

Not a lot in it, but if the ebay one is a swap, then its very expensive

cheers guys and if it is that part i would rather buy from a reputable dealer and Dopey i would love to bring it down to heathrow but car is not dravable at the mo so if anyone is closer by or you visit your sis in law give me a shout. I will ask garage to disconnect the blue wire and see what happens, they have had it for 2 months so a few more weeks won't hurt and you guys have been really helpful and if anyone local fancies this job just pm me, cash is waiting. :D

Just bumping this to see if there is any more interest in anyone to do the job. I have someone but he can't fit me in till the 30th Jan and would ideally like someone who does mobile work and before that date.
