I've used the closed cell foam in your second link. It's quite soft, so not good for anywhere it will get knocked - but makes a very good roof lining for the back. It would be OK under a mat I guess. Time to get the winter woollies out!
 
A lot of people go for foam roll mat. But I'm a fan of 5mm closed cell foam. If you cover that with accoustic carpet, it does the job lovely, and looks good.
Ebay can provide everything.
 
The carpet will stick nicely to the closed cell form with the foil. Just make sure you use the high temperature spray glue.
 
In the doors some self adhesive bitumastic flashing with camping mat on top does quite a good job fo damping noise and a bit of insulalting.
 
From my experience, insulation won't make a great deal of difference if you have door gaps where cold air can enter.
A chilly interior is part of owning a Defender.
 
Sorry, slightly off topic ....Whilst I'm always on the lookout for the 'right' for me Defender, I've had a F2 for 12 months now and to be honest it's not all bad.

Good heater, heated seats, warm interior and with the descent AT's it'll go wherever I need it to all for 3.5K.

Anything from late TD5 onwards in good standard condition,

Realistically, due to finances it'll be more than likely a 2007+ 2.4 or late TD5. Newer 2.2 would be out of my price range.

Probably a 90 truck cab or 110 crew cab, just fancy something slightly different to the usual van type.

Above all , it'll be in 'standard' condition with an excellent chassis and bulkhead.......not at all picky :D:rolleyes:
