hi peeps,to continue the c/l saga.are you sitting comfortably?both front locks failed about 9 months ago, replaced with brand new units, perfect.About 5 months ago car imobilised becm not accepting eac, front door locks not working.becm sent away to be revirginalised, refitted, everything working as it should.two months ago both front locks packed in,when using fob.when using key, drivers door, both rear doors and tailgate would unlock.front passenger door would have to be opened manually from inside.locking with fob would only lock rear doors, key would lock drivers door and tailgate.passenger door remained unlocked but would lock from inside manually.becm sent away to be checked, everything ok.feedback is there is a problem but they dont know what it is.they think it could be radio interferance to the r/f reciever which is waking up the becm which is then relocking the front locks eventually burning out the lock motors.the battery[new] was being flattened on all occations.locks replaced, old ones stripped, motor u/s micro switches ok,awaiting becm return and refitting.any other ideas anyone?can you get lock motors from anywhere?thanks for your patience if you got this far.:beer2:

I think it was ridesafe had the same problem, it was a duff RF receiver:eek:

hi datatec, ive been thinking along the same lines,in fact i asked the question about 3 weeks ago, before i went on hols.just thought id put the whole saga to the forum, its doing my head in.when the becm is back in ill disconect the r/f reciever and see what happens.are motors available for the locks do you know?the place that did the becm said to send the damaged locks to them to see if they can repair them and fit a thermo switch to prevent burnout, dont think that should be necessary or r/r would have fitted them as standard,or would they?cheers

Someone on here has tracked down the motors, sorry I don't remember who, sorry. You coud try a PM to irishrover, I know he has the potentiometers so he may have or know where to get the motors.

hi canyon,i dont think they become duff, they just pick up all sorts of frequencies from wifi, wireless door bells, wireless weather stations etc.the latest versions have a narrower frequency band which SHOULD eliminate the problem.there have been threads posted here that say a new r/f reciever made no difference except pockets lighter by about £160.

I've just fitted a new type one after years of recurring door latch motor burnouts and flat batteries. So far, so good,,, and much better range. It was expensive but far less than the amount I've spent on front door latches. Early days yet, butkeeping fingers crossed.

As well as picking up spurious signals, they can fail in other ways. It is perfectly possible for the output stage to continually or randomly send to the BECM without any RF input. This is the cause of the lock burnout problem. A replacement should only be bought from a dealer, the ones on Ebay are just as likely to be recycled faulty or old spec units.

have replaced front locks with second hand units.drivers side ok using remote or key.pass side not working on fob but opens all doors using door button.have checked wiring from outstation to lock,ok.any problem pluging lock into drivers side to check opperation.the outstation clicks when fob opperated, and i changed it with a spare.going to checkwiring outstation to A post now but think ive been sold a duffer. regards

As Datatek sad I had massive probs with my P38, all sorts fcuked inc two sets c/l motors and drivers door lock....all down to faulty RF unit, all of which well documented on here!
New RF units are on same 430hz but are shielded from spurious rf signals eg radio ham's, door bells etc, so therefore less prone to false/partial wake-ups of the BeCM.
Island 4x4 were best price/delivery, and several months later all is well..........for now lol!
(Apart from the fact that I'm selling it :( .....needs must!)

bet your only saying that cause your selling it ha ha.thanks for the advice will go for one when ive sorted pass.lock.ive answered my own question,if you plug u/s lock into o/s it blows fuse 9,must be wired different cause its ok pluged into n/s,unless they are the same and there is no power from fuse to outstation on the n/s and the locks nackered.it started raining and i lost intrest checking wiring outstation to A post.im going to have a large whiskey and ginger now and carry on tomorrow cheers.
