Well it's been a busy day full of oil. The Ron box went in with little difficulty, the main problem I had was getting the MAF sensor out due to them being the 6 star torx bolts and not the 5 I thought they were.

I decided to upgrade the PCV filter as well as it was accessible. It was a bit tight getting the case off, a bit of brute force got me there. The old filter looked like it had never been changed and it needed done. The new BMW part fit straight in and the case went back on with no problems.

Everything went back together with no problems and now it's just a case of playing with the different settings to see what I prefer.

From the initial test drive my god what a difference it makes!!! I already had my car remapped so I was used to better performance but with the Ron box, the new MAF and PCV it's like driving a new car!!!

I haven't fitted the dash switch yet but I was planning on running it through the heating pipes. Any one else done this???

triumphdave- I went for the 2a box with MAF sensor as I was more interested in the power gains over the mpg. I have it set on 3 at the min but when the dash switch is installed it will prob be on Eco (most of the time)

everyone seems to be going for the 2a,I was leaning towards the 2e(not the first time I've leant the wrong way ;-).My thinking was to go for the economy, and I believe you get a little bit more power as well.Maybe a rethink could be in order, especially as you say theres an eco setting on the 2a.I'd be interested if you found any improvement in mpg with it.My job for the weekend is to fit the egr bypass and see if that smooths things out at all.I've only had the car a fortnight and to be honest,I'm not over impressed with the power delivery so far. Then its order the synergy kit, once I've decided which one.
Good luck with playing with yours
Thank you
Dave

You should notice the difference with the egr bypass mod, I did. Just make sure you have plenty of oven cleaner to clean out the air intake manifold! Mine took 3 full spray cans and a lot of dirty rags.

You might have been better off starting with clean rags ;)

Having a problem removing the power plug.

I am squeezing the clip as I try to pull it out but it is not budging and I don't want to damage anything being so heavy handed.

Help!

Well, it is now fitted. :D
Will fit the switch another day.

After thunderstorms and heavy rain this morning, it is now hot again and me and the sun don't get on.

Will road test later.

I was going to buy one today. Got to checkout and thought i'd better check out with insurer. Rang Axa. Big fat no. I explained that the 2e I was going to buy did not boost BHP or top speed (manufacturers claims). They rang underwriters. Bigger fatter no . They claim that anything that boosts performance in any way must increase BHP at lower revs than the stated max BHP level therefore not allowed.
I considered fitting anyway but then considered with my luck the implications of not being covered:(
When the insurance is due to renew I will look for a company that will insure.

Maybe there should be a sticky here with a list of insurers that will cover it and at what percentage extra if any?

There is a page on his website that mentions it. Perhaps a good enough subject for a separate thread as its a big issue.
His page mentions some insurers that will or won't allow it, but it would be good to find out how other members have fared.

Just been for a drive and its like driving a different car now.

I have to relearn to handle it as I still have in my mind how it used to perform and be sluggish at take-off.
Not any more, its almost like a rocket now except for a very small dead spot when first moving off from a standstill.
