No matter what age the land rover you have to be either rich or good with the spanners to keep it on the road, though the older they are the cheaper they are to fix, but the older they are the more likely you are to need welding repairs.
None of the range rovers (rrs and ffrr) interiors tend to wear wel,l seats especially.
Many P38's are relatively rust free and the parts are very cheap or I wouldn't be running them.

Modern LRs and RRs are more complex than older variants.
If that RRS was £500 and you can do all the work yourself, then it might be worth a punt. However the seller isn't going to fix it, which suggests it's more trouble to them than its worth.
You could also end up breaking it for parts, which is pretty much what happens with a 12 year old RRS with engine failure.
 
Hi mate £2500 is too much you can remove heads but need lots of patience, most likely piston damage motor would need to come out heads cost about £300 each to recon as long as usable about same for a used one. the one on my thread had broken cam and a garage fitted cam chain wrong and it bent a valve but only on the starter so i changed the heads cost was about £500 gaskets bolts belts etc plus the heads which i had doing it yourself pulling the motor and rebuilding maybe with a couple of new pistons for example and all the parts i would expect to spend £1500 as long as the block is usable if you decide to go this route to D3 or D4 you need to look for the nicest example you can find perfect (apart from the motor) have a look at my thread been offline with computer issues until today i prefer to pull the motor and go right through it diy is the key by the way i have a 2010 3.0 xf jag that has done the same thing good luck
