Come on then gypo let's see your bad boy in action and no a drive through at Greggs isn't a green lane:p
All joking aside, Hippo's got a few nice vids on his YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/HippoPhoto/videos

I haven't taken mine anywhere dramatic in the last couple of years. It has been a great workhorse though as the pics at the start of this thread show - and they're just a few. It'll be doing another 1,500km trip up over the Southern Alps this weekend as well :) I fear the weather isn't going to be as good as in these pics, snow is unfortunately more likely!.

You should get Sorea to post some of her pics of her Freelander in the Congo and Cameroon epic, Shes not talking to me .

The sad thing about the pic on the boat ramp is that at 1 time most of the cars there would have been Land Rovers. Now they are all Japanese with the exception of my Hippo and possibly 1 Aussie station wagon. All the Landies are either old, rusted away and costing to much to run, or are new and spend their lives posing outside the little ones' private schools.

That is sad, but what is really annoying though is that I wanted to post a pic of the boat being launched, but someone went and embarrassingly photo bombed me...

I'm getting a bit jealous of these Down Under Pic's. Why did we not move down there en-block, all of us when we had enough Ships,
Fishing , Boating, Great scenery and Freelander's

Cheers.

I do tend to just take pictures of the nice bits :)

Don't tend to take pictures of the 9-to-5, the monthly bills coming in, the leaking taps, the price of Landie parts, the rivers farmers have killed by letting their cows **** in them, the delinquents stealing our daughter's car..... It is a lovely place, and I'm happy and glad we live here, but its not perfect!

Just to make you feel a bit happier, the rain does literally "bounce down" here as well, and when the forecast is for severe hail as well, the hail is quite possibly going destroy the guttering on your house (as it did with our previous place), so the cushions from the garden furniture are strapped to the Freelander's bonnet for protection...

The good news is though that it never rains in summer, so camping is a great way to get away from everything with the family and experience all those great things that NZ has to offer...

Well usually its great :) Other times you spend the holiday digging trenches around the tents!

Hey - you forgot to mention those mosies and sandflies!
How could I omit sandflies! If this was on AG, an accurate description could be made - but we're in a language friendly forum!!!

At least we don't get the poisonous spiders, snakes and loud obnoxious humans found on the other side of the ditch!

We do have birds that eat cars though...

Whats the bird?
Its a Kea. They are fantastic - full of character and mischievousness! They're an alpine parrot native to NZ. There are lots of tramping tracks through the mountains here with huts dotted along the routes for overnight accommodation - they usually have resident Keas who will happily nick the shoe laces out of your boots or fly off with anything they can pick up.

As they're alpine birds you also get them hanging around the ski fields.

Kea and ski field car parks = rubbers shredded on: wiper blades, ski racks, sun roofs ....

Actually, yeh, your right, dunno why you aint all applying for residency :)

Tomorrow we're off here (the Tekapo Canal) for a little fishing.....

In the evening, we shall be meeting up with a bunch of friends in the local town (Twizel) for dinner, wine, beer and poker.

Saturday, we're heading off to here (Queenstown) for a few days including golf, more wine & beer (pic taken last year 1/2 way of the near vertical cable car)...

We're actually staying in a lovely (like fantastic!) town called Arrowtown which is about 15 miles out of Queenstown. Half way between the 2 is the Shotover River, and last year we did this (I'm the guy behind the skipper)...

So, should be a good few days - and the Freelander loves the journey :)

Well the Freelander performed fantastically on our weekend away - as expected :)

Over 1,000kms and an average of 37.5mpg.

The Freelander and occupants loved the trip, it could so easily have been driving through Swadlincote and on to the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District.....

The only difference being that the climb in the pic is up to the Lindis Pass which has an elevation of 1,000m.
