A Locky

New Member
Hi there, looking for thoughts on this.
We drove from Cornwall to Scotland in our Defender 110 TDI, got to Lockerbie and the clutch appears to have gone. The pedal still has normal tension and we can get it into any gear but the greenflag man said the clutch has gone. Then someone else suggested it may not mean a whole new clutch replacement. We've been quoted £650.00 for this. Any feedback much appreciated.

Welcome to the mad house, is the tension your feeling just the resistance of the spring on the pedal? I'd start by checking the slave and master cylinders and the fluid level in the reservoir

i would expect to pay less than £300 for a new clutch at my local land rover independent garage . ware about are you now ?

If you are in Dumfy go to Thortons in Thorton (beside) Glenrothes or try Strathern Engineering at Auchterarder. Both are good independent landy garages this side of the Forth.
