hay new to this group. We have a LR defender that we would like to insure to pull a trailer with a pizza oven on. This is obviously for business purposes. We have attempted to get insurance via our normal broker and he’s telling us no one will insure it because it has inward facing bench seats in the back?! Can anyone shed any light on this, or suggest anywhere to go to get the insurance. They have taken our money, we have cancelled the old policy and now have no insurance! We have just spent £1000 to get welding and work done and can’t drive him!!!

Thanks

Sounds like poppycock to me. Did the vehicle originally come with the seats.

But if they say no, then try the following:
Annetts and Orchard.
Adrian Flux.

I am sure others can offer solutions as well.

Cheers

Ah thank you, what a friendly group! It’s sounds ridiculous to me, we have insured it for years no trouble, only since we wanted to add business use.

Thank you, I’ll try your suggestions tomorrow.

Thanks for the lovely welcome.

hi , hope u get it all resolved, we’ve learnt some insurance companies do like to try it on sometimes

PS, whilst it’s uninsured i hope u didn’t mind me saying but get some extra security / tracker for it :D

He’s at our friends garage at the moment as he’s had some work done but good shout.

Mum spoke to them today and doesn’t alway have the confidence to question anything. I’ll call tomorrow and get it sorted out. Had our bloody money and said it was fine!

Thanks again all

I'm sure if I can get business insurance on a cart sprung Landy a Fender won't be a problem, you just need companies that know what they're talking about....which does narrow it down a fair bit

i know when i had a 109 safari as soon as i mentioned it had 12 x seats they wished to ensure it as a minibus and another thing was on my V5 if i remember rightly had something like like restricted HGV on it

was easier just taking out the front middle seat and going to a specialist ins company who just insured it with no quibble
