My 110 bulk head is well........lets just say i dont fancy being in an accident and the water has many places to drain out from.
Whilst everything can be repaired it would need the foot wells the tops doing and abit down the side.
i have been offered a "rust free"(although i believe it when i see it) bulk head from a 1989 90, my 110 is a 86 v8? first of all is there a difference between diesel and V8 bulkheads? and really is it worth the time swapping a bulk head,or is it just quicker to fix the one in situ?

a grey area question i know, and until i get the wings etc off i wont know the full extent of the rust, however the chance to just do spanner work rather than welding work appeals to me.

all the bulk heads are basically the same and can be fitted to any model with nut and bolt work ,the diaphragm tha bolts tunnel to bulkhead is different on v8 but is bolt on ,we have fitted td5 bulkheads to all ages of defender as they were cheap new a year or two ago,if youve got good one fill it with waxoyl mixed with thinners at 90-100 pis through paraffin gun after painting and you will see waxoyl mist coming out of holes and seems, lay both b/h together take plenty of photos ,label wiring etc and try and build up new b/h in one day( not fitting or removing)

definately ,its could to fix something so that its done for future then gradually you have improved vehicle leaving less in years to come if you keep it

how long does it take to change the bulkhead? and how difficult is it? i assume you pretty much have to remove all the body panels to get at it?

i must admit this question has crossed my mind?although i guess it depends how rotten the bolts are!.
so really any bulk head will do,a V8 one would be ideal but if its a 2.5d or a 200/300 tdi, everything will bolt on/off from the v8 to convert the new one
