hello,

I'm about to start tackling the bulkhead on my 90. It's got some rot on the vent surrounds under the windscreen and top of one pillar and bottom of the other, plus a small hole in the passenger footwell.

I thought I'd remove doors, wings, dash and windscreen and replace both pillars, foot wells and vents so everything is new.

My question is what order should I be repairing things, I ask because I'll be using one bit to align the next. If that makes sense?

Also any tips/ recommendations or bulkheads for sale, would be useful.

There are a number of companies supplying galvanised bulkheads which is definitely the way to go if you have the pennies. Ashtree International are very good.
 
Would love to, only issue is an ash tree bulkhead is £700-800 I think while all the parts to fix mine are £230 ish.

Very nice people, but their delivery system means you get it on their time, not a set time, and so can't time plan your work. They delivered me a 200Tdi bulkhead instead of the 300Tdi one I ordered. Didn't realise until I had paid to have it professionally painted. :(

I'm still waiting 1 year after full payment

That's ridiculous. I presume you've been chasing them. What excuses have they been coming up with?
Yeah rang all three phone numbers regular and sent emails
Excuses Range from moving premises, being abroad, worker hurt in factory, death in family , ill health , dog ate homework Standard balloccck really!!

Being abroad is a bit rich. As that must have been paid for with some of your money, when they should have been home working for that money and getting the product to you. I'm not sure what are the best 'buttons' to press in these situations, but is it worth mentioning getting in touch trading standards etc.See if that gets them moving.
Did you supply an old bulkhead for them to repair? Do you have one to trade in against the new one? I'm just wondering if they can't find the right bulkhead for you. But, you'd think they would have said as much, if that were the case.

Yes sent in my old front panel and bulkhead for repair etc.
Which makes things worse, as I'm left with 2 large gaps on the landy and the prospect of having to shell out on two replacement
 
Some years ago I sent a bus power steering pump to a reconditioner. I explicitly and repeatedly stated not to send it through the post to anyone else as I couldn't afford to loose it as ZF has discontinued them.
Three weeks later I called to learn it had been sent away and nothing could be done to repair it.
When I turned up the so and so gave me a bag with random power steering pump components and a case which wasn't the one I had handed in ( I marked it).

Recently I sent two 200tdi pumps for reconditioning and was told it wasn't possible. When asked why I was told all they do is replace gaskets and seals and the metal bits were too worn!

Needless to say I now strip and refurbish everything myself.

Well , I trust in the first case you received suitable compensation and in the second you received all parts back at no cost, unless the advert stated only seals / gaskets replaced.

You shouldn't be shelling out for anything at this stage. I would start talking to them about having to take legal advice/action. Even if there is nothing stated in their terms and conditions about delivery times, this is WAY past being 'reasonable' and that's what counts. The situation you are now in is WHOLLY UNREASONABLE. It's way past time for the hard talk on the phone, mate. Go for it.
