So... It's time to make some preparations to repair the rust on the bulkhead. Nothing is through yet, but there are patches on the door top hinges which are not looking great. I have NO welding skills and wouldn't make a massive botch of it.

Can anyone recommend a place to give the bulkhead some TLC. By guess, welding in new sections to the top rather than replacing much more. I'm around Birmingham, but Cardiff and Bristol are also easy.

cheers.

Are these repairs in situ or are you removing the bulkhead? I got my series bulkhead repaired and galvanised here (link) which is in Birmingham and was far cheaper than any where else I looked. I had it off the vehicle though as I don't think they do repairs if they are still fitted.

Thanks for the recommendation, I will give them a call. Here's the damage - I've got no idea how easy it would be to do without removing it completely, or how easy it is to remove it! it's got to this point because I know nothing about body work and just let it slip.

That does not look too bad to be honest so the company I recommended is probably overkill, they do full refurbs. Any local land rover specialist should be able to replace the corners, you can get repair pieces for them.

separate curiosity question: why are your bonnet hinges raised up from the standard position?

Cheers for in input guys - I was hoping I was ahead of any problems so it's good to know it's not a big issue. FYI: The guy before me raised the hinges to lift the bonnet to help cool the engine (It was built for the middle east).

I don't know about what kind of bulkhead it is, although scrolling through Ebay that seems to be the one. I'd need a LHD version though. How easy is a swap when it comes to it?
