Hi all, i have taken it upon myself to rechassis a hi-cap pick up, its an A reg defender with a 2.25 diesel. My question is that the seat box is shot, its the one with a nearly square transmission tunnel, if i get a later seat box to fit it can it be converted, is it simply a case of changing the tunnel section that holds the gear levers? many thanks for any advice or if anyone has a seat box lol

I had the same problem. Rotten seatbox in my 110 which I'm in the process of rebuilding on a new chassis. Got a nearly new one off a td5 defender which is the same exept for the bit that mates to the tunnel. It's a pretty basic metalwork job to alter it to fit your existing tunnel.

It it not just a case of fitting a newer tunnel?, im not sure what age of seat box i can go upto, is it all the defenders upto 200tdi with lt77 gearbox?

Different tunnel might have the holes in the wrong place I think. Best way would be to look at some 'fenders and see. Either way it's an easy fix.
