Why is it that Defenders seem to be built for those of shorter stature? Is there any way to create a slightly better driving position for those of us who pass 6 feet? Perhaps a smaller steering wheel would help.

On the plus side - this is the first transport my girlfriend and I can both jump into and drive... and she is only 5ft and a gnats willy!

I'm 6'4" and I have raised my seat up by 1.5" and back as far as the bulkhead will allow. I have also fitted a smaller steering wheel - it makes a big difference.

ffs this is one of them posts that keep re appearing. do you people not test drive motors before you buy them, if so why moan about it after. if not, then i suggest you should ;)

Heh... Yus of course I test drove it, and fell in love with it. Doesnt mean its perfect - dont you do things to old yella to improve it?

Miserable bugger ;)

heaven forbid, old yella needs no modifying, she is perfect in every way , apart from...........

I am 5'-10" short legs short arms
I know it gets worse.....

My problem is somrtimes my left foot seems
to get cramp because of the seat postion in
relation to the floor any one else come
across this.................

Yep, pain in the bum for long legged gits, but the worst bit is when the mechanism gets so covered in crud you can't shift it! It's a sod when some shorty has been in mine, then I have to get back in. (mr bean in a landy!).

Lifting the seat is usually the only option due to the bulkhead.

I know a bloke who will chop 6" out of yer legs for £35 if you supply the Gin - sounds like a good deal to me !

i just wonder what you tall folks think when you go to buy a landy and sit in it, i mean surely you realise you are too tall fer it at that stage ;)

Yella - nothing else will do the job, not even a comfy disco, the back end of those things always get locked (especially on the towbar)!

Buy the best tool for the job, then mod it.

why is it that short blokes are always stroppy / gobby?

not like us gentle giants

Hi

If you look in Januay's issue of Landrover World (Page 100) they cover the fitting of MUD rails to the bottom of the seats to increase travel and also a kit to allow you to remove the top half of the bulkhead to allow th seats to move back. From the pictures it looks like they give about an exta 4 inches of travel on the seats

Hope this helps

Andy
