Hi All, I am in the process of buying a Range Rover Classic that has had an aftermarket 4.6 V8 installed. Have been searching the net but cannot find any information regarding the manufacturer or specific engine. The serial number starts as follows: DRV8D followed by a seven digit number. Any leads will be highly appreciated....

Don't recognise but don't think it is a post land rover production block either. These were 46XM prefix

Thanks, have also checked the V8 forum but numbers do not match. Is it possible for after market specialists to rebuild engines and put their own block numbers?

Not sure of the legal implications. Maybe someone else will come along and clarify. So V8D could be v8 developments but don't know under what circumstances a block could be re stamped. Are you reading numbers from below nearside cylinder head?

very common and legal or was when i was at the reconditioners, all where restamped unless customer own unit, engines and components are often used to build different specs from lr number
