I am thinking of building a small trailer to put my motorcycle on.
I have all the welding and fabricating skills and mechanicall knowledge required. The questions i have are how much can i tow before i need to put emergency brake on it . does it have to conform to any British standards or anything ? any ideas where i can find out ?

cheers :)

question, how can anyone prove it was made after the change?

Don;t think that applys for personnel use, just back door makers who make a living of doing that.

If you use stuff off their shelves to make your own don't see a problem

after having a look about, it seem racks fitted to the tow ball mount arnt covered by the new regs, but i can buy the full kit including light board for just over £100 prob not worth the hassle making one unless it is in the works time

Unbraked trailers can go up to 750kg gvw, over that they need brakes

I thought home made trailers had to be suv tested , you're not even allowed to use a towbar on a car now unless it's got a eu approved sticker on it even if it's made by witter
