well i fitted at lock to the drivers door as the range rover didnt have one, no change at all ive tried entering the code nothing, central locking dosnt work at all , still says engine disabled, ive made sure bonnet all doors are shut, how would u entyer the eka ? close all doors put key in drivers door mines is wrote door on a bit of paper i was given when bought the r rover its 4 digits, when inaside the car the dash messge centre never says enter code should it ? ive checked every fuse everythings in order, say the code is 5234 how would you enter it, and does anyone no if you can start a disabled engine from inside ? as in with key in ignition?
any information at all gratefully received guys
cheers

Did you order a replacement lock from LR to match the Chassis number or source one from a scrapper with the key to match the lock?
As I understand it the EKA code is entered thus: key into drivers door and lock the car. if the code is 5234 then turn the key 5 times to the right, then twice to the left, 3 times to the right and 4 times to the left. BUT! and this is the issue. LR told me that the code can only be used 5 times in the life of the vehicle on the 6th occasion it will lock out the big computer under the drivers seat and its a big cost to either £1500+ vat from LR ( plus fitting) replace or unlock £?? Be sure you arent about to be the 6th person to do it. You could also be the first....
As for disabled engine issue, if it says disabled on the dash I dont think you can bypass it as it is all linked to the EKA.
Thats the problem with buying a £46k car with all the anti theft technology for a few grand. but I love mine and wouldn't change it for anything. Not sure any of this helps but it is all my experience with similar issues with mine. I am sure that someone with most knowledge will post and be of more help.
Good luck,

Hi i had extacly the same problem when i bought my range rover if it comes up on the dash key code lockout ya have to wait ten minutes before you can enter the code.. to enter the code lock make sure all doors are lock manually then from drivers door the first number ya enter by turning the key to the right and back to putting key in position the required number of times then for second number you repeat but towards the rear of the vehicle then third number to the front and last to the back then towards the front once and it should work if you get stuck look in the handbook it shows you how to do it any more problems let me know:)

EKA code . . . . . LR told me that the code can only be used 5 times in the life of the vehicle on the 6th occasion it will lock out the big computer under the drivers seat and its a big cost to either £1500+ vat from LR ( plus fitting) replace or unlock

I'd like to hear IRISHROVER or RICK THE PICK's comments on this.

Engine disabled can sometimes be cleared as easily as locking and unlocking with the fob, but if you say the remote isnt working at all you might need to resynch with something like a synchmate.
Try putting your location in your profile someone around the corner might have one.

well guess what it fired up ! 1st time in 2 years , engine purred away everything seems good air suspenion away and abs fault but no big deal
i left key in ignition with ignition on for 15 mins took key out central locking clicked locked door with key in lock all locks clicked, as the central locking aint working remotley , went back say 20mins later open drivers door didnt hear any other locks opening , key in and says engine disabled ! so its never asked for code at all im thinking it dosnt need the code this is maybe a central locking issue ? thats triggering the imobiliser ? is this a known symptom

I get this occasionally - I think my door actuator is on the way out, and is on my list of things to do at some point.

Usually I can get round it by just turning my key a few times in the drivers door and after a few jiggles the central locking will fire.

I'm dealing with some higher priority tasks at the moment, but when I get round to looking at this properly on mine, I'll let you know what I find. Mine works 90% of the time, but I did have a stage where it sat on my drive for 2 weeks while I scratched my head - before discovering just turning the key a few times knocked it back in to life. Been quite a while since it's been a problem now.

So tell us again, you got it to start with "engine disabled " on the display?

regarding EKA lockout it can go to 2nd stage lockdown inside the becm and after this you have to reset the Becm via faultmate SMo35 software. I have done this a few time in the past as i tried to sort it out via the obd2 port first and it would not read so had to remove the becm and connect to the cpu board and set back to "normal"

Just to clarify, I'm currently blaming the door actuator on mine for this problem, because I recall reading a thread explaining how a dodgy door actuator could stop the RF receiver from working for some reason (ie. keyfob not working, and ignition not recognizing the key in the ignition).

Could be miles off the mark though - as ever, someone more knowledgable than me might point us both in a different direction.

no what happens is when i open the vehicle sometime all the other locks dont open with drivers whebn this happnes i get engine disabled, i just went out there made sure everything was locked from inside and went in same thing so closed doors locked with key then pushed lock buttin on remote, then opened door with key and pressed open on remote, car started, done this routine 5 times then the remote central locking started to work from the keyfob ! am a happy camper , i think its all been out of sync, the air suspension also works in all 4 corners just an abs fault that seems wrong

Well done... the more i hear peoples ways to get p38's running the more i think its held together with blutack and brown paper :D

When entering the EKA code turn the key to the lock position 4 times before entering the code then after the final digit entered turn the key to unlock the door and when the key is put in the ignition the key should sync and you should be able to start the engine

left it with everything working, went back half hour later and nothing engine disabled again! i bought it with no door lock/actuator fitted guy said this was the fault sourced one from a breakers today fitted it and done what i said above, what i dont get is why did it all suddenly work from the keyfob starting locking everything, then 30mins later nothing ??

note re ovalandrover's procedure above applies to 96 or later, for the 95my you don't do the 4turns left, you go straight to the eka sequence
