Well I might be needing you help soon, my girlfriend when trying to avoid what looked like a small deer managed to park my Disco into a tree last night. With myself her daughter and a USA guy over on business in the car. I had been drinking so I let her drive for a change.

It was very dark last night so we left the car where it was and walked cross country home to get the little one to bed, who was quite shaken up.

I'll stick a picture up, I'm hoping the chassis and shell are ok, we hit quite slowly but I could not open my door, and my left foot it sore.

But it will need new left wing, front grill bumper etc minimum.

Arse!!!

Update, my left foot seems better it smacked the glove compartment which is bust. Ouch! But were all ok, thanks for asking everyone.

The car is a bit of a mess it looks like the whole front, bonnet and pax side inner and outer wing needs replacing. The power steering Res gone, the jack is where the airbox is, its moved back a bit etc etc.

So it looks like I know what I'll be doing for a few weekends. I just need to get the chassis checked out.

The tree does not look to good either, but it will grow back.

Ok here's the start of the problem.

The only mechanical problem is the power steering reservoir, lost its mojo and the steering is heavy, the chassis seems ok and I'm getting it checked out. So it looks like a bolt on inner wing section etc will get bought.

Its all fixable as long as you folks are ok, did you get it home do you need a tow as im not far from you ?

Hi,

I got it on a trailer because the power steering was done for, it was only 2 miles from home so it did not cost a lot.

And were all ok.

I'm kinda looking forward to putting the new front on it actually, watch this space.

Ok, update after the accident in Larry (my landrover).

This is what he was like after the tree jumped out in front of him.

I have spent a few hours carefully cutting the crushed panels off, to see what was fooked.

After very carefully cutting a lot away in small bit (I did this because a lot of wiring was trapped) it ended up looking like this.

I had to replace the axillary belt which was knocked off during the accident and pull the radiator and inter-cooler back into place.

It looks like an inner wing replacement panel, headlamp box, batter box, body mount and slam panel are needed to fix him.

As others have said, I'm just glad you all walked away OK. It looks like you're making a load of progress there. Hope he's back on the road quickly..........

and is the girlfriend still in the dog house or forgiven?

Glad you're all OK.

Interesting to see how much impact the bull bars took. What sort of impact speed? I've seen much worse at low speeds without bull bars fitted ...

I think we hit the tree at about 20-25 mph, hard to tell, it could have been slower or faster, I think the best thing that happened was the impact was not square to the chassis or the force of the impact would have been square to the momentum of the car and would probably be in a worse state.

I was amazed that the whole front, radiator, inter cooler etc popped forward today when I cut the body mount off today and everything with a little tweaking worked today.

As well as the bull bars, the diff guard took a hell of a whack as well.

I think we were lucky really.

I need to check the chassis is 100% but I measure between the legs and plumb measure to the ground and all seems ok.

I need to go and take a picture of the tree.....

As for the girlfriend, this car has been added to the list of crashes she has had in my cars, the A6 and MG bought it before Larry

The most narked member of the family is my Frodo my dog who is missing his walks away from home, he does not fit in the boot of my TT very well.

I am now a fan of Bull Bars and Steering Guards.

Front inner wing structure looks pretty good - not much corrosion to see.

Is your better half OK?
