If you jack up the wheel you had hanging with the others on the ground if it turn freely and the prop stays still the driveshaft is out.
I'll give it a whirl- I'm gonna stick it up in raised and try go forward/back a couple times see if it seats anything as I'll have to pull it forward anyway to get it up on jack's (wonky driveway).

Well that was a bloody weird one. And I either understand what happened, or am racking my brain trying to make sense of it.
So- it's working again, and here's what I did:
- jacked up each wheel at a time to check the axles as you said- both engaged and working fine, but I noticed a slight wheel camber which I'd just thought it needed to adjust itself whilst moving.
-after I did that, I jacked the whole front end and just let the car shift itself back straight.
-jacked the rear end up hap-hazardly (on an uneven hill) and let that shift itself to match, then belted the wheels and gave the callipers a tap to free them off.
- got in it, and she lives- back and forward a few times in all 3 height modes and all's well.

My guess is, by being on uneven ground while jacking when I've out the wheels on its somehow sat itself at a funny angle, pushing the driveshafts in/out causing them not to engage while the camber was out, so by jacking the car and thinking f@ck it let it slip- it's straightened itself out and is now happy and ready to ride the tarmac once more.
That, or with the brakes seized on it was protecting itself by not throwing everything it had at them :rolleyes::oops:

Anyway- all sorted and head scratching can conclude.

Whatever the bloody hell it was, I'm glad it's decided to fix itself as I was about to reach for the matches :D just need my ramps to turn up to finish some bits then it'll be back on the road- which I'm bloody excited about! Almost all the minor fixes done- so I can start on her new project next :confused:

You were right, it wasn't sorted at all. Looks like the inner has come out

its having a strop because you got a Suzuki
It's not even my Suzuki it's the bosses :rolleyes: but it's definitely popped out and won't go back in no matter what I try (and now it's raining).
Had to abandon ship for today, need to come up with a plan that doesn't involve taking the hub off :D:D:D
It's now stuck on my drive low down so no where to get stands level either. Bugger
 
Job done :cool::D now does anyone know why the lower bolt wouldn't come out on the hub? I also refurbed my key while I was at it- shiny new rubber and my buttons take no forcing to work :D time for a beer!

That looks like the C/V boot is fecked and loosing grease.:eek:
 
Was done by previous owners garage- they didn't tighten it properly so it spat grease everywhere and seized my brakes on.
Starting to think everything he did is going to need redoing :rolleyes:
Still looks like there's a bit missing, look under the bolt head. Put the nut back on the bolt and tap it with a copper hammer whilst turning the bolt. May help jacking the hub up a bit to take the weight off the bolt.

Oh I tried, think if I'd belted it anymore I'd have needed a new one (and I wanted to get it finished :D:D)

Get some new bolts. They are a 16mm thread with a 17mm shoulder and are a bastid to shift and keep usable. The shoulder is an interference fit and a git when Rusty......
