Hi all, i nkow there various threads but theres nothing like upto date info and advice sooo....
I have an issue with the coolant on my wife to be's X reg 152,000mile TD5...Truck will sit quite happily ticking over, water moving around nicely. Can't seem to get both sides of the radiator to warm up as i thought it would. If i drive it it a short distance the water wants to come out of the expansion tank and the top hose with the bleed screw is empty just pushing out frothy bubbles. I have no noticeble drop in power
I popped a new thermostat on just in case...do you think it's the radiator or the head gasket?
I can't smell fuel in the water and the oil is clean...your sensible thoughts please.

Cheers, Nick...

Are you sure you dont have air lock, cant think which way round but you need to get motor on slope then bleed it.
Head gasket you may get very hard top hose and or bubbles in expansion tank.

Id say rad as cores might not b lettin water thru.

Change rad then bleed up should sort it

Ok...thankyou very much...Just for the record i have icarsoft for Jaguar/landrover...
Merry Christmas.. i will post outcome.

Take front grill off and check rad for rust or missing cores. Easy 2 min job. But id say rad as mine was the same on 300 n the top right corner from front or motor was rotten and stoppin flow. 70 quid on new rad and hour or so work

Hi all, quick update. managed to get a second hand working radiator from skan 4x4 near me in Much Wenlock for £30, so will fit that tomorrow morning...thanks for your thoughts, allways very useful.

Nick.

i wouldn't bother with a 2nd hand one, how good is it going to be, off the car it may seem to be ok, no doubt yours might too! get a new one, then tick the box!

I have had enough experience to know its unlikely that skan would sell me a duff radiator, even at thirty fine english pounds...still the same fault, water disappearing so will assume that its the gasket as its not landing on the floor and the the preesure is still in the system after a good bleeding and then a two mile trip. Will keep you posted, merry Christmas!!
On the positive side the Range Rover is fixed and we have that instead of the Peugeot 308 hire car...
