Was on my way to get oil, filters etc to give her a good service and it stopped on me !!!!!!

The engine is running eratically and when engaging drive it cuts out at 1500rpm , oil light has come on and even though it was high level on monday is now below the low level indicator

Found a small oil leak on the return oil feed on left hand side of the engine but is that enough to loose so much oil ?

Will i have damaged the engine already.

advice would be helpful as no nothing about these things !!!

Top it up with oil & recheck leaking pipe whilst on 'tickover'.
Replace the pipe ,if that is the main cause of the leak; the hose end may have split...
Check coolant level & temperature gauge,on tickover temp gauge takes ages to move.
Or if an AA member or similar give them a call...

Yep just waiting for my mrs to get home to go fetch the oil etc, will top it up then get a replacement pipe for it.

Hopefully that is the problem and not something more serious
 
Does anyone know if there is a inspection hatch in the fuel tank ?? undere the boot floor maybe.

I want to get in the tank and clean it out and the filter on the pick up, to see if this is the problem

Lift carpets and you'll see a round metal inspection plate access is under there. It allows you to remove the fuel sender gauge.

Thats good news lol

Would i be able to get my arm in the tank ??? To remove any loose material from it, and is there any mods you can do to stop it picking up crap from the tank.


Gonna have to to that plus the fuel sedimenter,fuel filter and injectors

It's a plastic tank they don't get crap in them? you only get crap in the tank if you put it in yourself through the filler neck. In this country Filling stations are reasonably clean and crapfree. So that only leaves adding dodgy fuel from dirty containers. You can get you're arm in But I doubt you'll get anything out of it.
 
Oh i see, but it is a 13 yr old motor so surely it has some sediment etc in it ???

If not what else could be wrong ? How do you clen the injectors??
 
Injector cleaning is a specialised job. ya can chuck some redex in the tank and that'll help a bit. but too be honest I'd change the filters and the sedimentor and see if that helps.
 
Well had the rac out to see the Disco so i could get it trilered to the garage and the man seemed to know alot about the early models, he said it looks like the turbo seals have gone as i have oil in my intercooler pipework etc


Hopefully this is all that has gone wrong with it
 
did you see any smoke from the exhaust as it will be burning oil if the turbo seals are leaking, also isnt there a breather that goes into the intercooler pipes so you'll always have a bit of oil in there, (correct me if im wrong)
