I think that is how all trades are at the minute, why take on trouble when there is oodles of much simpler work out there, that will not come back at you in the future!
Of course the tides may turn as money gets tight and the trades themselves are actively looking for work, but tbh I cannot see that happening as there is simply not enough tradespeople to start with.
 
Making an observation on how poor their service is rather than blaming them. They don’t have the skills is the reality.
Ford are the ones to blame and me for buying it but I am a sadist I think.

True, changing oil is much easier for them. Doesn’t stretch them too much.
 
we have all done the same from time to time underestimated the problems, good luck, these cars are just to good to scrap, hope someone comes up with a answer to sort out crank problem

I have one garage interested with space in December but two weeks later they have gone quiet without sending a quote.

Difference is, not so long ago engines were made to be rebuilt multiple times, and parts were readily available, nowadays engines have become a disposable item, and being governed by an electronic brain means they are always being run on their limits.
We haven’t progressed in engineering terms, replacing belt and braces common sense, with cad engineering and trying to get a quarts worth of energy out of a pint pot.
I have rebuilt many different engines in the past very successfully, but I’m not sure I fancy tackling a sdv6 when it goes, and we own 2
