Hi all.

Recently got hold of a Motorola GM950 cb radio for the landy.
Now it was removed from a large recovery truck in which it was working perfectly.
Since fitting it in mine (and tried it wired directly to a 12v battery) all it will do when you press the transmit button is beep at you repeatly.
Can change the channels but thats about it, can't communicate with anyone through it.
The only thing i can think of is the fact its now running off 12v instead of 24v on the recovery truck.
Should have an SWR meter by the end of the week but in the mean time anyone got a suggestions on what to check. Or has anyone delt with this problem before? Any suggestions??

Any advice would be greatly appricated.
Cheers chris.

I have a funny feeling its not a CB ... more like a trunking radio so its no good to you .

 My winch should be on so will be able to recover myself! :p

Anyone got a link to a good cheap cb i could get by the weekend? Already got an ariel.

Have you asked Dan nicely, I'm sure he said he brough 3 sets a few months ago. He certainly wont need one for a long time, if he is coming with me on Sunday he may well be up for a temporary loan. Other than than have you tried fleebay?

Mikes hand held cb has turned up so gonna bring the that with us on sunday.
Gona have to keep looking and see wht i can pick up cheap.

Yer looks like around £60 buys a nice one.
Mike will be bringing his handheld on sunday so will be able to stay in touch. :)

Also what is a trunking radio?

its like a 2 way radio but over a very long distance , low ish powerd unit that acceses the GSM network ( like a mobile phone ) , so you could be in the south of the UK and talk to somone in scotland like there sat next to you .
