Hi there wondering if you folk are experiencing
problems with Britpart products?
Over last 12mths purchased all for a defender 90
Led front bumper both lights failed went as rusty as a horseshoe horrendously painted.
3 internal door handles snapped in 2 mths
X2 track rod end rubbers split in 12 mths
Even seat back foam split around the bolster in 12 mths
Now britpart promote this 2yr warranty on there parts contacted them direct said I have to go back to dealer who I purchased them off so the
poor dealer has to sort all previous invoices out I still have copies but that isn't good enough passing the buck I think ! Could be a long job getting any response from this.
Is anybody else having such a performance getting response from manufacturers or is it way of the world and people don't care any more!!!

Britpart aren't a manufacturer, they are a wholesaler, they don't make any parts, just buy them in.

With most suppliers, you will get a choice of qualities, Budget, OEM, or Genuine, and the prices reflect quality.

What I usually do is get the Britpart stuff for things that don't really matter, or that are changed often anyway.

For safety critical parts like brakes and steering, I get the OEM stuff.

Also known as Sh:tpart.
Some of their stuff is OK, generally rubber things aren't.

They are a bit of a bemoth now having bought AllMakes4X4 and Terrafirma and with Bearmach going bust.
They do resell some good stuff, but you have to know what you are looking at ...

Buy twice is the mantra for britparts here. Stick to simple items for replacement parts bulbs rubbers tubes fuses Evoques wipers mirrors. Generally stuff you happy to throw out.

I have bought various Britpart supplied items over the years and most have been fine.
Deluxe Series seats were excellent, better than the Exmoor trim ones. The only item I rejected was a Defender end door seal, money refunded no problem.
If you spend £4 on a brake cylinder it will be rubbish, what do you expect?
As mentioned you are given an option of crap, oem or whatever and take your choice. If non of the options are good enough then we have to buy genuine if available.

Thanks for your comments so basically then the 2yr warranty is bull ----e then!!
Who would you folk say are the better brands except genuine

You have got to also remember Land Rover like all car companies are like Britpart, they buy from the cheapest place they can and work to get the price down as low as they can difference is they do try to make the bit outlive the warranty.
The over thing to think about with older land rovers is a original part like your brake cylinder may have being siting around for may years, which for rubber parts is not good

Why do you say that?
You need to return and claim through the company you buy the part from.
The only part in over 10 years I rejected was refunded by the seller no problem. Its down to them to take it up with their supplier or right it off.
Painted bumpers are cheap so you paint it again or except it will rust or buy a genuine at 3 or 4 times the price (or more).
At the end of the day none of us want to pay Genuine prices from Land Rover. We have to weigh up the risk of maybe buying twice.
Oil seal for example you can buy the cheapest and winge about it (many do) or buy acceptable for 3 times the price or Genuine at 6 times the price.
I buy the acceptable ones without a problem. But no point in putting a genuine seal on a worn stub axle for example.

Of course, but the genuine parts are made to a standard the cheapest Aftermarket are made to no standard at all.
Track rod ends for example, usually ok but the rubber apparently perish so get some poly covers for them or already fitted to the new track rod end, more money though for the same item.
The only rubber item I have had perish is the hand brake rubber on Series 2a, but that was about £2 so what do you expect.
Old stock rubber parts can be an issue I guess. I always laught at the owners who have to fit original tyres from 60s, and 70s, madness!

Unfortunately that's not how it works.
You will learn, as many of us have, what to buy and what not to buy.

Here's an example of the differing prices ...

I (personaly) wouldn't buy the £769.32 variant.

Another ....

Another ...

I know they are all the same site (LR Direct) but I find them usefull to get an initial price so I can go hunting through the usual suspects (eBay, Blanchards, John-its-never-in-stock Cradock, Maltings 4X4, Rimmer Lickers, Paddhocks, et al)
