I got some.new hinges but there are no instructions even thou it says there are, gotta love Britpart.

Anyone tell me what to do with black rubber rings?

I am guessing they go on the outside, I only have 8 rings but there are 16 bolts.

Also the provided plastic spacers don't have the cut out for the retaining nut!
So they fit flush against the Piller.

See pics have I been sold another dummy or am I being one?

All looks in order to me. I don't remember the rings, but would guess they are an extra that goes under the screw heads to prevent water ingress.

Just remove the old captive nuts with the clips that hold them, replace with the new clips and nuts that are visible in the bag, and fit spacers and hinges.
 
I knew I should have bought the Bearmach ones but these were cheaper:-(
You see in the picture the Bearmach ones have the squares cut out of the plastic shims, which these ****part ones do not?

I still don't see the problem. The clips with the captive nuts go in the holes in the pillar. Then you put the bolts that hold the hinges in the hinges, and poke the bolts through the hole in the spacers, and screw the bolts into the captive nuts, job done.
 
The problem is the retaining nut sits in the pillar so that half of it, the clip on the outer side, sticks out. The plastic shims with the squares cutout allow for this outer clip part of the retaining nut to sit inside the shim. Thus not stoping the hinge from sitting proud against the surface of the pillar.

The shims provided are never going to work well if you need slot of adjustment as they are not going to deform enough to achieve a flush fitting with the surface so they will never seal the hinge to the pillar.

Are you saying the plastic shims dont have holes in to accommodate the captive nuts, there for they sit ontop of the captive nuts? Send them back mate.
 
I had 8 rings, fitted them to the bulkhead bolts, in my mind it might stop the bolt rubbing the paint off. This doesn't happen with the door side of the hinge cos you tighten the nut inside on those. (My logic anyway)

The shims,

I used these despite the reasons you give, there is enough of a void behind the hinge to accommodate the extra thickness owing to the fact that the shims are not cut out. The shim will deform inside the back of the hinge, if you have to take the door off you will see.

(Hope that makes sense)

But in a nutshell they fit.

If you really don't like the plastic shims, trim them a bit with a Stanley knife or similar until you do like them.

Yer exactly they dont have the holes to accommodate the outside of the retaining nut clip on the door pillar.
Sadly I cant send them back as I bought them a while ago, I bought some Bearmach ones today off ebay so hopefully they will fix the problem

The plastic just bends over the clips, or you can cut holes with a Stanley knife.

Totally typical of Britpart to give only 8 rubber grommets for 16 freaking bolts, I swear I will Never buy Britpart again, honest!

Yer the problem is I might have to have a few of the shims and they wont deform so rather than cut them out I just order 8 off ebay.

Why? They are only to separate the metal to avoid galvanic corrosion, they aren't spacers. The adjustment of the doors closing is on the pillar the door catch striker plate is on.
