Well I fancy some LED headlights (I really like to have a clear view of the road!!) and some funky dials if I do a Svo convertion so I haven't gone mad in a nationalistic fever :speakenglish:. There seem to be a reasonable amount of British made parts for landys and I want to support that industry where possible. The small manufacturing industry is still stuggling in this country despite the fact we make some kick ass stuff. Where possible why not buy quality British parts? Britpart have a lot to answer for by by ruining a perfectly good abbreviation /rant

....right behind you on that one

as long as the parts are good quality then i agree.

reason why i bought altberg for boots, etc

If you want British springs go for genuine Landrover ones, they are made in tonypandy in southwales.

If you are sure that the defender springs are made in Tonypandy then the company must be Allevard Spings Ltd which is part of the Sogefi Group of companies they are a leading manufacturer of automotive parts of which springs are one of their products and they do list Land Rover as a customer.
They have a short corporate video showing some of their manufacturing and quality control systems it is worth a look at SOGEFI Group

I do not know this company but I am pretty sure they will supply only to the automotive manufacturers so not to the public but again worth a phone call.

extreme 4x4 springs are made in the uk aswell.

I have scorpion springs and decarbon shocks were on my landy when I bought it 9years ago they are still going strong used everyday some towing some heaven loads and some off roading.

I think extreme is them rebranded ?

Terrafirma shocks are shockingly bad, Pro-Comp / Brit Part yellow HD spring combo are OK, and I have found the best after market spring/ shock manufacturer in my opinion is Old Man Emu, as at least their springs do not seem to sag and it's all manufactured in Australia, not really relevant to wanting to buy all British I know.

I have not tried the de-carbon offerings yet, but I am sticking to genuine Land Rover shocks and HD springs now, as the ride is better, genuine springs and shocks cost more than Old Man Emu though which is the next best thing.

Considering I got a 2 inch lift on mine and large mud tyres the scorpion springs and decarbon shocks keep it on the road very predictable handling not to hard

I'm looking at suspension for my rebuild project. I'm wondering if anyone knows if bearmach or terrafirma are owned and made in the uk? It might sound silly but I want to try and keep my landy entirely British.

Any thoughts?

Genuine LR, Extreme 4x4. No idea where Britpart HD springs are made, but they are supposed to be ok springs.

Monroe used to be a good shock absorber, I think it was British, but maybe they have been taken over now.

I agree that most of the aftermarket stuff is inferior to standard. As posted before, Old Man Emu is probably the best of them, but obviously not made in Britain.

I don't find your request strange at all, I hate buying foreign stuff at all if I can help it.
