Haha forgot to say. I thought I'd cleared all debris from car and smelt a weird burning hair smell. Looked around, didn't see a thing so carried on. Smell got stronger, looked up, there's a blue rag on fire in driver foot well!

Probably as good a place as any to mention this.

A few of us did a camping trip near Devizes last year - this year's trip ended up being cancelled due to everyone's lives getting in the way but we're starting to look at options again. I'm in the somewhat fortunate position to (jointly) own a campsite on the edge of Bristol so looking at sorting something out.

Ok so if I look into organising some for of meet that isn't at restos driveway lol. I'm trying to figure out what sort of area would be central to everyone so we can then figure a place to stop and relax. Also if it's of any interest to anyone weekend of 27th of this month a couple of us will be attending the 1st national country and western group. Show in farmbough (near radstock) it would also seem one of the organisers is a land rover fan (had a modified d2) I'll post the flyer shortly. But if you've a spare day it's cheap and your more than welcome to join us.

Here's the flyer may also be worth taking a nose at there Facebook page if your interested as it has more details there.

If you are looking to sort something out and have the ability to accommodate I'm sure we can arrange something. Your more than welcome to contact me and we can start to look at options

I started this tread with the simple intention of a regular/semi regular meet up of like minded enthusiasts either weekly monthly or such. But after a discussion with private penguin would there be any interest from those local (And further afield ) in a full day/over night (camping) type meet up local to the bristol area? (That wouldn't be so regular tho lol)

Hi all
Wondering if anyone local to bristol area would like to start having a land rover/4x4 meet on a regular basis as I don't think there is one local. Already 3 to 4 off us that have a lot to do with each other.
Thought it would be nice to build that community to in involve others.
Let me know if your I interested and I'll happily put something together.
If nothing else a cold drink in the sunshine with other land rover /4x4 owners sounds good to me.
I'm in West Wilts between Brizzle and Swindon.

Count me in, I'm always up for a natter, pint and BBQ food. I drove past the country and western meet up that weekend, it was packed, my kids said they saw cowboys and Indians too.

Anyone here out in Keynsham today? Came across a sizeable convoy of green ovals around the place a couple of times and swmbo spotted them when she was in town too. Passed them one last time in saltford on the way home.

I know there used to be a number of camel trophy landies in keynsham. Could be these?

Was a bunch of Disco 1 and 2s

You're right about the number of Camel's in the area though - there's at least 2 in Saltford and a number in Keynsham, although i know at least one is a fake.

There is a fb group who do meet up at brislington park and ride then go off and do the local lanes across keynsham area and bath. May of been one of there meets. As for the camel trophy vehicles there are a number of them In keynsham and saltford. I've spoken to a couple of the owners nice chaps.

Would be good to get something sorted at some point.

Have been rather quiet the last few months. Mix of work, personal life, and the fact that i'm driving off road most days at work at the moment has meant i haven't bothered going out at weekends.

I still need to have a chat with our landlord - there's an area of the site that is being developed that would be great fun to go and play on - i'm sure some cash would need to change hands (if only to cover the cost of his digger driver putting everything back afterwards!)

From a laning point of view, the last 2-3 weeks of constant rain mean going out on byways is likely to damage them at the moment. BaNES council dont tend to do seasonal TROs but are always looking for excuses to close byways permanently.

I'm Bristol based (when I'm home) if this thread is still alive .
Would love to hook up.
Martyn

Hi Martyn

I'm currently landroverless at the moment - but very much still in the Bristol area. Although my daily car is a 4x4 (Nissan Xtrail) and copes with most of the off road driving i put it through at work, its not really built for serious laning!
