Hi to all

Trying to make sense of the tyres I currently have & whether they are suitable for all round use or just off road.
They are Bridgestone 7.50 16LT U-traction Light Truck.
Dont know what the tyre pressures are meant to be for a normal load as I dont have the manual. Anyone help? Defender 90 300 tdi.

So why do people let air out of their tyres at trials? I see that a lot. I haven't done it cos I've no way of stickin air back in afterwards, but was considering it. If it's not worth it I won't bovva!! Cheers.

Many thanks yella

Another question for you :)
Are there any links on the site for how & when to use the diff lock.
I had a quick lesson when I picked up my vehicle but wanted to do a bit more reading on how to engage diff'lock & when it's best to be used in H or L.
Thanks again

right then piggy one, when you go off roading you want as much traction as you can muster, so if you let the tyre pressure down to about 15-20 psi then you have more of the tread actually touching the surface and an added bonus is that it softens the ride. when on the road if you have your tyres this low it will create heat inside the tyre and can cause blow outs. if you put around 40 psi in em it makes it a more economical ride than running at 30-35 which is what the manuals say ;)

I see, I understand that now! one more stoopid question. Out on trial this morning, my tyre treads just got totally caked in the mud, which I'm assuming affects gripability (is that a word?- I like it anyway!!). If you do let a bit of pressure out of the tyres would that lessen the amount of cowpat cake I get? I think I might invest in one of them portable thingybobs I see people using to reinflate their tyres - but what are they called?
:)  (cor! what a rollercoaster of emotions!!)

Oh dear! now I gotta admit what a dipstick I am, I got one of them in me cupboard!! never used it still in the box.Doh!! And Double Doh!

It says 260 psi air compressor and 12v output mA. i reckons that'll be the thingybob I was after, I knew when I bought it off sellavision it would come in handy for something (it was a bargain at the time!).

Well thanks Yella, that has at least saved me laying out more cash. But oi do worry about meself at times oi really do!!

(now den Dougal, listen, small cow - far away cow!!):)
