I would check the engine bay battery connections are tight and clean. I would eggspect they are if the engine starts ok. It doesn't make sense why it opened without damage or request from you. so check connections for peace of mind and see if it happens again.

I only have to knock my remote and it can unlock the freelander I know of a way of getting into a freelander without keys .and if one of the doors is not properly shut then it should sound the horn that it is not locked.

So guys - i'm none the wiser
I checked that the super locking feature works - thats OK
Nothing disturbed under the bonnet
Havent found any relays behind the wheel arch liners (but didnt search too hard)
No ideas !!!!!

That only leads to one conclusion. It wasn't locked? ;)

My freelander 1 used to unlock when a particular taxi dropped off his fare and radioed in for a new one, but it always sounded the alarm.

No kids playing with keys.............

Funny

Maybe the lesson to learn is to double check its locked although i am sure i locked it

Sorry to jump in here but..... Would opening the bonnet to get at the battery not set off the alarm also?
