What are you talking about.. uk insurance policys...im talking fact about here in portugal...there is no equivilant of AA or RAC here cause theyre not needed here we get recovery included in insurance and its ilegal to tow here as well...
I'd have thought that was obvious when I started my previous post "You can get that here too..."
Sorry if the UK isn't up to your exacting standards.

Thanks all for the advice. I reckon I"ll give the AA a call, see if I can get it cheaper than the RAC are asking.

I suggest doing that , then going back to the RAC and saying what you have been offered...LOL

Cheers

Saga i beleive does not give 12 month cover unless your in a moterhome and not staying in pre-booked long term holiday accomidation...

Saga motor insurance covers ALL European travel for the duration of the policy. There is no need to call them or notify them when you travel. Both my cars and motorhome are with Saga. They seem to have realised there is an enormous market of over 55's who are retired and want to travel.

I'm with the AA here. When I broke down 200 miles from home with terminal engine failure, they stuck the car on the back of a transporter and delivered it back home.
that hire car I had did not have any back up I will never ever go with a cheap company again.

I had to wait for 35 mins on hold just to get through to report a breakdown the Thursday before xmas, evening rush hour but 35 mins to answer a call, **** service from the RAC. Oh, and another 3 hrs before anyone rolled up

lol, we were driving round the back of the airport the other day on a new industrial type area - passed the Chch "Right Car" franchise - had a giggle!

I understand what you are saying but how does their insurance policy affect the 183 day in a calander year you are allowed a vehicle out of the uk?...it might be 12month cover but you dont get 365 days cover do you?...on another forum somebody high lighted the small print and others found they werent insured...

Too pedantic for me........I'm going to talk to the wife instead

I have AA but it's me that's covered, not the car so whatever I'm in (either driving or as a passenger) if anything happens they get me home.

Vehicle or age is immaterial.
