Hi guys,
my p38 has failed mot on all the break pipes being corroded. I dont want to be ripped off with labor costs, what is the honest and realistic time to change these pipes and how much would be a honest reasonable price to charge??

Thanks
Luke

Ive just today got mine back and payed £330 for all pipes but hes a mate so dont know how much it should have been

I seriously doubt that ALL the brake pipes are pitted to a depth of 0.25 mm. Surface rust don't count.

what shall I do then? I Dont want to shell out all this money for nothing, shall I get them checked by another garage? or challenge them on their decision?

You would have to be the luckiest unlucky person in the world “if” all pipes are corroded to the point they all need replacing and not a single one has failed?

I’m just not buying it. check it yourself! Take pictures and post them here

yes i am going to collect it tonight, I havent paid anything yet not even the test fee, I have it booked into another garage for a brake inspection and report...... Lets see if they pick up on anything

I get my MOT done at test center without garage connected, only work they can do is adjusting minor things like headlight and thats free.
Surely the test cost the maximum allowed around £54 incl. VAT but saves in long run as they do not invent faults like those doing repairs:)
