Ive stupidly knackered the thread on the gearbox where the brass 1/2 selector detent spring holder screws in. Currently using a piece of wood jammed against the seat box to keep it forward and in drive!
Would anyone know what thread it is so i can get it tapped, as i cannot screw the brass plunger in.
Would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Chris

Take the plug to a good engineering place and get them to check the thread.

I would be inclined to push some greasy rag in the hole and clean the damage with a Dremel, if that's all it is in the photo.

don't seem to have a small enough disc for the hole. Have tried small screwdriver but can't see to get it to bite.
I sem to be running out of options unless i cn find the thread size to get a whit worth or UNC tap.

If you cant find out the thread or get a tap you could get a suitable size countersink drill and just remove the top 2 damaged threads. You should be able to do this by hand which will give you more control. The countersink should provide a new lead in for the plug. Make sure the plug will have enough depth of thread though once you lose the damaged ones. I hope this makes sense
