Been out playing with the Defender today and loved it, the only thing I didn't get on with was the brakes, are there any recommended mods for upgrading the braking other than strapping a few kilos of lead around my ankle, I've had a Disco and a P38 before but this is my first proper Landie and it definitely seems lacking on the braking front in comparison, don't get me wrong it stops but requires more effort than I'm used to.

There's nothing wrong with the standard brakes on defenders. If yours don't work like they should overhaul them it won't cost you much.

Check that everything's in good nick - pads, discs etc.
If the fluid looks old, it's well worth changing it for fresh stuff.
If you've got drums on the rear, swapping the rear axle for a Disco one with discs makes a big difference.
Braided flexi-hoses are also a worthwhile mod.

Just had a new mot so should be right
I'll check the fluid & pads etc tomorrow, braided lines should make a big difference.
Any particular year/model of Disco axle to use ?
Cheers

Check the servo is working (press pedal 4/5 times start engine with foot on brake pedal should go down 1 inch or so) if not check evacuator pump (if deisel) manifold hoses on petrol
