lost my brakes this afternoon the pedal went to the floor came back a bit with pumping dropped the kids off at house then went to rip off fords(halfords) for some brake fluid as I thought I had burst a pipe ten quid for the fliud came out got in and the brakes were back but when I brake hard and get like a pinging noise and a clunk from the abs , the abs light and brake fliud light never came on when I lost braking any ideas whats wrong
the pedal is normal my first thought was a bust pipe but ive lost no fluid now Iam thinking it could be a duff servo or I cooked the fluid as I was driving down hilland on the brakes a lot dont know if that would cause the problem but Iam off work tomorrow so I will change the fluid and go from there if it happens again I will stop and get the AA out and see if they can find the problem

If it was an ABS problem the warning light would be shining brightly. It is just a thought but it might be wise to check all 4 corners are braking properly. A friend of mine lost his rear brakes and didn't even know. If I remember well that was something to do with the Tee piece at the rear, but also, there is a pressure compensator thing (can't remember the right name for it) bit they sometimes can cause a problem.
Either way, you would be well advised to make sure everthing is 100% when it comes to brakes.
