Once you remove the plug, you'll need the adaptor 90513171 and the vacuum hose connector 569714. Both are available (e.g. Craddocks) but quite expensive for what they are. Someone may know what the thread is in the manifold, in which case you may find a simple hose tail adaptor that works. I had to drill and tap my manifold, so I just used a brass hose tail adaptor from a plumbing specialist.
The standard dual-circuit split is front/rear; I've not heard of anyone using a diagonal split, but someone might know better?
There's info about the type 50 servo on the expeditionlandrover.com website - I think you need the 90/110 brake pedal and possibly a cutout in the offside wing to fit it.
The 90/110 pedal box won't fit directly to the bulkhead as the angle of the pedal will be all wrong. I have seen them cut, bent and rewelded at the right angle but a lot of fettling.......
 
hi,cheers for the info,my mistake,i have bought a series 3 pedal box with attached servo with attached master cylinder ,the land rover expedition link earlier in the thread had info about fitting a 3 setup which to my skills seemed to be the easiest upgrade,i have non standard wide shod 11inch tls front brakes and standard 10 inch rears with 1 1/4 inch cylinders,i am not at all conversant in the models and am more than happy to be corrected and/or educated for any mistake,
the reason for wanting to upgrade is the braking effort and safety,
just for info. in about 1990 i had the misfortune of having total brake failure in a single line system approaching 2 lines of queing traffic at speed,my motorcycling instincts took over and i went for the gap!,nobody was hurt in any vehicle but the day before i had been driving above high cliffs so hence fitting a dual system seems prudent,at the moment i am spending what i would pay in road fund,mot fee in readyness for the road,no bling just all fluids,tyres,battery,blades,wiring tidying+ cleaned etc,its last mot had dangerous fails on tyres(split) and brakes(none),the tester is more than willing to reinspect and test drive for the mot record.

Dual system is a well worth it upgrade. All systems now are front/rear, the diagonal split was on some cars when they first brought in dual systems, soon went to front/rear. I too had a brake failure on a single line system, very lucky as traffic lights turned green and I just rolled a few 1000 yards to a stop, pulling the (useless) handbrake. Garage had welded next to the brake line!

Scary! :eek: Did you find out what part of the brake system failed?
+1 on Rob's comment on front/rear split. A diagonal split would require a lot of extra pipework and flexi's, all of which is adding more places for a failure to occur, which is maybe why manufacturers went to front/rear?
