hi i have a 1985 110 sw and want to replace its rear drum brakes with disc brakes.
how hard is this and is there any specific discs, parts that need to be fitted etc etc
any help or ideas would be appreciated

best way is to source and fit a disc-braked axle off a later vehicle.

sounds like a plan!
will it not cause problems renewing the front ones cos they will be a different year compared to the rear or are you able to just buy a set of four discs to fit

It shouldn't matter at all. I have over rated 110 discs on the front of my 90 and drums on the back. As long as you've got the same on both sides at the front or the back you're fine.

Very very easy - get a S/H later axle. It's a job for an afternoon, though I took three days about it cos I painted the bits of the chassis that were exposed while it was out, and had to leave paint to dry between coats.

Re-bleeding the brakes is about the fiddliest bit.

Before doing it I had lots of questions about pressure compensating valves etc... all irrelevant as it turned out, the brakes were excellent straight away and ever since, without changing anything else in the system.
