I am replacing most of my brake pipes, due to corrosion.

I am having a hard time finding replacement fittings, both male and female, once i make new pipes.

Does anyone know the metric sizes for the brake pipe fittings- at the caliper, and btwn the flexi-lines and the hard lines? And a source.

think it's 3/16 pipe and 10mm unions or some old ones had 3/8 try Workshop Supplies & Consumables - Beal UK | Workshop Equipment | Garage Supplies or ebay

you can also buy kits pre made up if you can't be arsed

I've just done mine on my 90, I bought a selection off eBay but think they were all 10mm metric, and I used 3/16 kunifer pipe

As above 10mm unions and 3/16 copper pipe. It's worth doing them yourself, I did all my 90 the other day and was surprised how cheap it was - £12 for 20m of pipe and about 5/10p per union

Take the old ones to a motor factor and ask for some new ones

ebay as said, just redone all mine , £12 for pipe and fitting

even bought a pipe bender to get the best finish i could...and for £4

and if you are going to that trouble cylinders and shoes / pads are sub £20 if u shop around, got shoes from sortout, cylinders off eblag....

just the usual cheap £15 toys r us type set that comes with clamp, all dies and cutter, best tips i can give are

a) put a drop of oil on pipe end when flaring

b) use the shoulder height of the die to determine how much pipe sticks out of clamp.... set i bought never said this and found by accident on net... flares have been perfect ever since

c) flare slowly, the pipe deforms far better and i always double flare...

been making my own for 15+ years now with no probs

Yep i've got the same type of SEALEY flaring kit - just can't get to grips with it! With my broadband being slower than dial up

i can't watch youtube vids either

There's plenty of videos on youtube too, I watched a few and got it fine. Quite an easy job!

If you have any problems and your original ends came off OK, it's easy enough to reuse them with the new pipe.

It's usually only the pipe that fails!

Great info, much thanks. I found a supplier here in the states with Cunifer pipe and the right fittings. They started doing Aston Martins and appear to rent a very nice flaring tool - my handheld jobby is a pain and mostly bodges the job.

Great pix, Rob. Now I have a goal to shoot for.
