Doing all my brake pads in the morning.
Never did Landy's before.
Anything I should know?

Thanks.

be pepaired for the unexpected did the td5 disco pads and discs drivers side no prob off side caliper seized disc wouldn't come off nightmare to be honest.

just bought a second 90 and am fitting lockers, extreme lift kit, the works really, but decided to start off with all new bearings, disks and pads etc, i got to the last caliper, front nearside and the pin holding the pads in was tight so i took an old pin from one of the other calipers to drift it and ended up snapping the tab off the calliper doh. New callipers ordered. Be prepared for anything

If its just the pads, then wheel off, split pins out of pins (have new ones handy), and lever the pistons back a little to lift the pads out. New pads with anti squeal plates in the right way (watch how they come out) and a smear of copper grease on the back and pins.

Complications .....? Pins prob cruddy - emery paper might be enough. Pistons corroded and won't retract (usually given away by one pad worn right down and the other not......), might clean up, but caliper off probably to get at them. Maybe new pistons and seals..... new ones all round on mine.....

Usually the crappy little biro springs are completely rotted - genuine LR pads come with new ones.

Haver fun. Just be happy you're not laid out on the drive here doing it this weekend...... A:D

OK,

Front brakes are done, rear dont need to change.

Now she is pulling to the right when I apply brakes and I have very little brakes!!!

The new pads went in easily but it was very tight, when I got home I could smell the pads.

I have a feeling the calipers/pistons are stuck or just not working??

Any ideas.?/

Thanks.

Take the wheel and pads out again and look at the pistons. I think ideally they should be almost flush with the rest of the calliper.

You could get a G clamp and try and push the piston back in, remember to loosen the lid of the brake fluid bottle first, as it will push fluid back into there.

Otherwise, if that doesnt work, you'll need to take calliper off and either refurb or get a new calliper

Will do,
Much Thanks.

Be prepared for the calliper bolts to be done up real tight and/or loctited in, and for the brake pipe to be a bugger to undo - my pipes were all coroded and the only way I could get them off was at the Rubber pipe.

New pipes were shiny for a while:)

I bled the brakes again and got some more bubbles!!!!
Now they are working fine.

However I am glad the new calipers are coming as the old ones looked quite nasty and I am sure rust and dirt got into the pistons.
