with disco 1 not disco 2 water pump pliers are good fot them
It will work on 2 pot calipers but not on 4 pot Disco2 front calipers because pushing in 1 pair of pistons will tend to push the other pair outwards, unless you can fit 2 of these tools in the caliper. Other than that some sort of lever is required.

To be honest lads, a big screw driver is usually enough to crack the first bit so you can remove the caliper and/or get the pads over the lip in the edge of the disc, then big water pump pliers do the rest, failing that a big G clamp
i like to work on each piston, get em all moving each other in and out to make sure theyre free, then start pushing them all the way in
use blocks of wood or use new pads to hold the pistons from popping out until youve got all 4 pistons in then fit them back onto the hub.
key thing is to make sure they are clean and square in the hole too.
it's really not difficult once you understand the principles.
