Well, driving home last night the brake lights weren't working, had a look this morning and after checking bulbs, fuse etc, seems they work if i press the pedal hard.

Just wondering if anyone knows if the brake light switch is adjustable? And if it is, how do I adjust it?

Any ideas welcome! : ) xxx

Hey

Think you have a Disco, if it is an early TD5 then go to your dealer (for Land Rover Parts :p) an get a new switch. easy job to chance but be careful, there are different connestors.

It's a 300TDi... Easy enough to change myself? :p
The brake light switch isn't to difficult to remove and refit as long as you are double jointed with long fingers.:)
Try removing it and have a look at it first, it's located at the top of the brake pedal.
It's self setting when you refit and press on the brake pedal.
Could be loose or simply faulty.

Thanks for that, I'll go and have a go now....... Or maybe when it stops raining!! :p

But... After playing around t'other day, I am half tempted to use the theory of 'If it's not broken, don't try fixing it' as it seems to be ok at the moment... Unsure....

Thats what I call sunny!

The picture isn`t from today because the boss wanted me to work today:D
He said something about Monday and work and duty, don`t know what his prob is

Now back to topic

To change the switch just open the hatch under your steering wheel, take a torch and have a look.

where the brake pedal is attached and then around 15 cm down.
turn the switch (i think) counterclockwise for 90° and then it will release.

unlock the connector and then the same thing in reverse.

But be careful you have to press the prake while fitting the switch, it will self adjust when you release the brake

I would do that work as soon as possible because some other street users might want to know when you want to stop.
