I have no brake fluid dash light. The bulbs OK and there is no live going into the plug. And there is no live on the black and white wires going into the sensor. Should these be live?

Have same issue with my brakefluid sensor. It works via swithing the earth connection. Same as handbrake and door switches(if fitted)
On mine if I shorten the 2 wires going into the sensor dashlight comes on

Read somewhere the float in the sensor can become stuck. Thou no info on how to dissasemble or repair

Anyone repaired one? Or buy new l

Brake fluid sensor works as a switch the connects or disconnects the earth/neutral wire going to the dash lightbulb. Hence if you take abit of wire and shorten the two crimp connectors going into the sensor the dashligh should come on.

The sensor mechanism in the brake fluid reservoir supposedly can get stuck or seized and if loosened it works again according to online rumors and saves buying a new reservoir with the sensor built into the lid(only need to replace the lid)

Thats how I understood it on my 300tdi which had a faulty sensor for years. Will prop experiment with a repair before buying new

Just did mine, prise the top of the cap off the sensor. There is a float with a steel washer on the top. under this are two contacts. When the level is low the washer touches both contacts and the warning light comes on. Clean contacts and under side of washer then fill up with fluid.
