The brke wear sensor has just come on so I will shortly be changing the pads. Has anyone done this? Is it easy? Any tips?

Guessing you aren`t that experienced with any cars? Changing pads is pretty straight- forward. But remember that if you are an absolute novice brakes are not the best place to start ! Follow instructions from RAVE manual. (downloadable from this site). Make sure you have all tools before starting. Torque wrench advisable, anti-seize gunge for replacing wheels, good jack & axle stands, somewhere level `n` firm to work. Check discs for wear/scoring. Is that enough of an answer or have I mis-understood query?

Thanks for the reply. All done now, brakes feel a bit "spongy" is it best to bleed the brakes?

You`ll find that it`ll take a few miles for the pads to `bed in`. The pedal will take a little extra effort until then. Don`t try doing crash stops or running with left foot on brake pedal to speed things up!
Spongy pedal? does the pedal `bite point` come up if you pump the pedal? That`s a classic symptom of air in the system. Fluid should be replaced as per book. IF you`re going to bleed the system do it STRICTLY by the book. The P38 has a fairly sophisticated power assistance & ABS system, and it`s easy to make problems rather than cure them if you aren`t too careful.

This is an L322, is the bleed process the same as a P38?

That`s outside of my comfort zone! But I don`t imagine it`s gonna be any easier. My previous reply probably holds good: only try it strictly by the book. Owt else and you`re looking for trouble, and brakes are obviously not optional extras! With correct information it may be possible but make sure you can do the job before you start it.
