I'm not sure how your box works but mine has a wire going to the boost sensor so it doesn't start working until the turbo comes on song so I guess I could put a switch on it if I wanted!
That's the manifold absolute pressure sensor, it does not mean the power box only operates when the turbo boost cuts in.
Reading the VOSA info, it will be visual signs of mods, so just the presence of the box will be a fail.

How many nominated testers are going to know the position or apperance of any extra powerbox's fitted to any of todays cars? Just remove any visable signs that advertise the fact - that is all I will be doing with mine. The MOT rollers are electric motor driven so cannot be used for any measurement of power outputs merely the braking force to stop the drive of the electric motor, besides the coating of the rotataing drums will soon wear off and they cost a fortune to have re-coated. So i cannot see many vehicles failing the test for this additional part of the test.

Well done. Budget to replace the air suspension bags if they haven't been done and save yourself a lot of grief with the EAS.

Looks like you could be right, Datatek. Got up this morning and she was down very low, think it must be a leak. Dont think she was quite on the bump stops (they did not look compressed) but maybe access mode. Started up and she rose thro all the heights to the highest and all indicators works as they should, no flashing lights and no audible signals. Has had new front airbags this year and according to the bill one rear airbag in 2008 so I suppose it is reasonable to suspect the other rear airbag might be the culprit. Any constructive ideas welcome, anyone near Weymouth Dorset know about these things and willing to take a look?

You see that's the beauty of these sites! If you don't know what your talking about (like me) there's always someone who does!
Unless they really know what they're looking for I don't think many will get spotted!

Easy job to do yourself, I can send you a guide if you PM me with an email address. You will need to have the free EAS software and cable to hand, it's also worth having for when the system faults.:D

Bill I have the eas software and lead so can check this for you at the weekend, plus try out your nice hawkeye system

That will be brilliant Dean.

Incidentely, Superchips have an agent at Copnor, just off the Airspeed Road. - very handy!

welcome and congrats looks a beaut, she wont miss a beat if you stay in touch with t guys and gals on here, mine s a 99 also, bags were replaced bar 1 and that lasted 8 months before it finally blew so its worth to check them all and replace as necessary, also what miles you got mines 125 k and i just replaced t eas compressor seal and just in t nick of time as i got away with t seal only no need for t barrell and a cheap fix, also get t free eas software , buy a lead and away you go. thats worth hundreds to ya.

she's got 108k on the clock so not too many miles, not like me, got far too many miles on the clock :)

Hi, every now annd then mine is sitting low when i come out in a morning, i had all new airbags and re-con compresor... turns out it was just trying to self level as the road outside my neighbours isnt as flat as outside mine, glad i changed airbags tho they where fooooked;) So could it be that you have the same as me with the self leveling? (road at a slight angle) its possibly not but it mightt be worth a try parking some where differant just for a night.:D

Dont they try to level them selves every couple of hours or so. So yes eventually I suppose they would be in access mode.

To give you an indication my rear are bags are fooked, I can park it up on off road setting and within a few hours the rear is right down low and then the front slowly catches up until its all on bump stops. Got to order new air bags amongst other things.

Every 6 hours according to the book:D

If i park at my mother inlaws its half on the kirb and its on a slight hill, that seems to really p**s it rite off... (just like the mother inlaw):D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

If your suspension drops overnight you have a leak in at least one front and rear airbag circuit. Simple as that. It does not matter what angle the vehicle is parked in. That in itself will not cause the vehicle to try and level out. If for instance your height settings for both fronts is 150 and the height settings for both rears is 125 if you had a leak on the N/S front and over time the sensor setting went down to 140. Then when the EAS wakes up every six hours or so it will try to lower the O/S/F sensor to read 10 points below their normal setting to level the car.

Odd that, park mine on the flat and it stays up for a week, in my car park which is far from level it always levels down, in fact you can hear it doing it if you happen to be near at the time. All new airbags, but I will check for leaks when I've fixed the bloody gearbox problem:mad:

See the edited version Data. A little more detail added. According to RAVE the EAS wake up lowers the car by a maximum of 8mm a time. So you would think that in a twelve hour period (two wake ups) the suspension could only fall 16mm this clearly does not happen in some cases. And the fall is much greater. Which to me would suggest lots of slightly leaking circuits. However it also says that a 15mm leakage drop is acceptable over 24 hours. So maybe we expect too much sometimes, and as long as the EAS sits up straight away in the morning all is well.

Like little willy, my P38 comes up in seconds;)

Sitting low again this morning. Elevated very quickly when started, no audible warning no warning lights (just normal indicators) I reckon I must have a leak however. Going to see Dean68uk at the weekend and he is going to put his eas cable on the car and test it. We will also try my Hawkeye so I will report back on that. I think the leak will likely be in the NSR airbag as it seems that is the only one that has not been replaced. I am only going to replace both rear airbags as the fronts were renewed early in 2010.

Hi enry8

Same colour as mine. Bought mine nearly 2 years ago only jobs done so far were new discs and pads, track and drag link ends and rods. Next job is the in-tank pump as I think mine is now a little tied at 99k.

Enjoy your purchase and welcome to theworld of the P38.

Alan
