I'd say it's a couple of mmtheres some play as it can rock in the ball bearing and the roller bearing between it and the mainshaft

probably alright as its held in the spigot bush in the flywheel, does it rotate smooth enoughI'd say it's a couple of mm

That's tommorows job! I'll be back with more picsIf your going to remove the bellhousing you will be able to get a better look inside at that point.
I have read that before on here, thanks for confirming it to me+ 1 on the above. The 2a clutch release is a much better job than the 3 one.
mainshaft doesnt come out, if you have top off remove the interlock between the shafts and select 2 gears,16mm socket fits the bolt, tap the 3 bell housing bolts out too it helps with refitting...so got the clutch thingy offView attachment 157289 didnt realised bell housing wouldnt come off without pulling the main shaft with it, and I carnt get layshaft nut off because I've nothing to hold onto on other end of mainshaft... hope that makes sense.will have to use a wooden post and my son holding it tomorrow to get the nut off.
How does the bell housing sepesepa from the shaft please?View attachment 157289
Thank you james that's tomorrows job sorted. Was the main shaft pulling out because I haven't undone the lay shaft bolt?mainshaft doesnt come out, if you have top off remove the interlock between the shafts and select 2 gears,16mm socket fits the bolt, tap the 3 bell housing bolts out too it helps with refitting
nut must be off the back of the mainshaft but they are usually quite a tight fit through the bearing, your trying to pull layshaft which is pulling on m/sThank you james that's tomorrows job sorted. Was the main shaft pulling out because I haven't undone the lay shaft bolt?
