Lift pump going doesnt give these symptons on a 300tdi. They can run off injection pump alone, albeit slightly down on power.

I have read that since.
I can only go on what l have been told. The RAC guy said it was probably the lift pump. He spoke on the phone with the supplying dealer, who sent a mechanic to fit a new one.
He fitted the new lift pump "the old one was faulty" but could not get it going.

The dealer came the next day in a 110 and towed it away using an A-bar. He called me later to say he'd found the fault and it was an aftermarket solenoid fuel cutoff that had decided to kick in.

He repaired it and is going to deliver the Landy back when he's done some other jobs l asked him to do (such as first gear being hard to engage when hot)

I am pretty impressed with this dealer's service so far.

Yeah l questioned that and he said it was OK "as long as you put the transmission in neutral, which completely disconnects it" so l assume he meant the above.

So, is it ok to tow a landy? I was told it fubard the gearbox towing them.

if you tow it with front wheels off the ground and unable to turn ,center diff will be spinning whether its in gear or not ,which isnt good for long periods or fast speeds , but with all 4 wheels on the ground either box in neutral is fine
