Did a service on my 300tdi yesterday and noticed a small leak (approx 1 or 2 drops a minute) coming from the back of the fuel pump - see red arrow on pic below (not of actual vehicle) showing area where diesel was dripping from onto waxstat adapter - the leak doesn't seem to be coming from any of the fuel pipe unions but from somewhere on the pump head(?) Any ideas where the leak could be coming from and whether it is a DIY or specialist fix?

If it is definitely not coming from any of the pipe unions or the delivery valves more than likely pressure head O'ring. Easy if you know what you are doing and do it correctly. Pain in the arse if you do it wrong.

.......had this on my 200tdi pump...def o ring in my case but there was a leak elsewhere so sent off for refurb and did my cam belt at the same time as it was coming off the engine...expensive but worth it, think I paid £350ish for the pump full refurb

Just did mine, (300Tdi Disco), today, had to buy a kit for the pump just to get the distributor head "O" ring that cost $20, whole job took about 4 hours to do in my driveway, Bike teacher Dave sent me all the info needed to do the job, about last September, I've been slack and have not needed the LR beast much, tardy, yes, you could PM him he da man.
Don't spend all that hard earned cash if you have some tools and know how to use them, you can buy the "o" ring as a separate item over in Britain.

Thanks Gazbo! I just had a new old engine fitted and it was under warranty:).

I have a Bosch/Lucas diesel pump expert guy coming over on Thursday to do it for me. £150!

Hopefully that'll do it, if not I have my spare IP from the old old engine as a back up!

Diesel bob quoted me £180 ex for a complete reseal (viton where applicable) and re-calibration to stock.

Yes, Dave thanks heaps, I have been promising myself to tackle the IP for all that time then driving back into town the other day the fuel light came on, I thought, "oh good now the tank is low enough not to drain fuel all over the yard when I open up the pump". Plus it was wasting a lot of fuel, and the embarrassment of leaving a fuel pool when parked in town with the A/C going and the engine running to keep the cab cool, so all good reasons to do what should have been done 6 months ago.
So for any contemplaters, or like me , procrastinators, replacing the distributor head "O" ring seal on your Bosch VE IP without removal of the pump from the engine is a reasonably easy task and with a bit of care you can save yourself a lot of money.

Hey @biketeacherdave , would you still have that great instructional video for the Bosch VE pump discharge head "O" ring replacement that you sent me years ago, I wouldn't know where to find it now.
I've done the job about 5 times on other blokes Discos since doing my own, so I need no instruction now, in fact I feel like I wrote the book.
Could you connect with @Morris.minorman and share that info with him, I am not technically qualified to be able to send vids on here.
MMM, It may be able to be found by simply searching YouTube. Maybe search Bosch VE injection pump, disc head, O ring.

You shouldn't post your personal email on a public forum. I would click the edit button and delete it. The forum has Personal Messages for this sort of thing.
