Dave's broke it

Having regular power loss at around 70mph LR diagnostics not picking up any problems so tried another garage with super new lap top diagnostic technology!!!! There machine came up with fault code 5232 Boost pressre control valve, Has anyone had this problem before and if so have you got any ideas on how it can be fixed or does it need replacing? Thanks Dave.
 
Has the pressure delimiting valve been replaced recently. Its a filter that fits near the injectors, Caused me issues at 70mph and power loss
 
Yes been replaced, from what i've been reading on here from merlinghnd on september 28th 2005 (freelander power loss at 70mph) sounds like the turbo is shot:eek: . Anyone got any other ideas or know of any aftermarket turbos please let me know. Thanks Dave.
 
hi i had that prob it was caused by the turbo overpresherizing there is a canister on the rhs of your motor attached to the vacuum hose on your motor assuming it is a td4 there is a small pipe that runs under the motor cover alongside the injectors etc it goes down the rhs of the motor and attaches to the pressure switch thingy that operates the turbo take this pipe of and check it for holes mine was ok but it was so worn it was kinking and sucking flat i replaced it with a 1.5m length of injector return hose i begged of the local garage as he had a big roll of it ,i re rooted the new hose allonge the bulkhead to give it a easy life and the problem was fixed if this fails check the turbo linkage has not fell to bits if this is ok replace the pressure switch for the turbo and its small filter aprox £40 hope this helps ian
ps lr wanted £1000 for a new turbo or £500 for a garret

What age and mileage is yours, I have been contemplating replacing all the vac pipe just for peace of mind
 
dave, dont condem the turbo too quickly,(its expensive to replace ) after all its a simple fan spinning between a couple of bearings, if it were siezed you would soon notice it , the oil seals are the usual failure, and this is where you get clouds of blue smoke out the exhaust, ,
stay with the simple things first,, as mentioned the vacuum pipes are a favorite source of trouble , you can test the turbo control solenoid by checking its resistance with a multi meter and compare it to the egr valve solenoid, or even connect a 12v supply to it and you will hear it operate,
 
i had the same thing, does it happen when you have your foot buried up hills too? if so probably the actuator on the turbo, i think that what it was, i can let you know though.

does it loose power, then if you keep your foot down it comes back 10 seconds later or so

Hiya just read your post. It it a braided vacuum pipe that runs from the turbo solenoid across the back of engine to a part on the right hand side of engine. Mine sounds like a vacuum when under load and looses power when towing uphill
